Woah slow down. I don't think Stalin is 'cool'. I dont think associating myself with him is 'cool'. Someone said something about people only focusing on the bad and that is part of the reason for my name. Anyway, a lot of you are mislead. Stalin did not physically 'kill' anyone, which is what a lot of you are implying. I agree that alot of things he did, such as his 5 year plans, his gulags, his Great Purge were responsible for the deaths of many people. Whch is wrong. Very bad. But do the ends justify the means? Stalin took a backward country, took it by the scruff of the neck, and industrialised it in 30 years. It took Britain 130 years to do the same thing. Without his factories in the Ural mountains, the USSR would have crumbled under the might of the -blam!- war machine. If this had happened, the -blam!-s could turn their attention to the western front. If this had happened, i can assure you the outcome of the war could be very different. I am not justifying Stalins actions. Mass genocide is never a good thing. I am just trying to put his actions into perspective.
Man how long before this thread is thrown into the Gulag?
