Once more I respond with the age old addage: Its a S E C R E T!

Also I will continue the response by saying, everything happens for a reason. There is nothing in this book that has occurred that I regret.

Well okay maybe one thing. When it got time for the Arbiter to head back to Silone, I started to wish I still had the Spec Ops Major (Half-Jaw) Ekaporamee in my company of characters. I needed another Elite for the Arbiter to bounce off of (figuratively speaking). This is part of the reason why I threw 'Eranumee into the mix, just so I could have another important Elite character. Unfortunately he and the Arbiter have only had one moment where they spoke to one another.

So until I get the two of them together, the Arbiter is going to have to continue to be all introspective and brooding. Much like the Master Chief I suppose.

Some of my original plotlines that I created had Major (Half-Jaw) Ekaporamee, meet up with Sergeant Johnson at one point on Honor Without Mercy, and then the two of them have a little confrontation.

Judging from some of my scribbled notes on the small pad I keep with me at all times to scratch down my ideas whenever they come to me, it would seem I had created an elaborate backstory involving the two of them. When Johnson fought on Paris IV, and first contracted Boryn's Syndrome, the Spec Ops Elite had been there as well, and the two duked it out for a bit, the battle ending when Johnson fired a round that just clipped the Elite's face, tearing off the left-portion of his mandibles.

Hmm, there was a lot of potential there. Too bad Gravemind had to go and kill the poor guy.

Now that's intricate!
I love how Clark says two words, and someone can try to turn it into a theory about his story.
It fills me with an odd joy that permeates my being.
Delicious.

Technically speaking you could just do it over again, couldn't you, Mr_Clark? I mean, the story ísn't finished yet, and you publish the chapters here on the site for reviews, right? That means that when you have the stuff 'finished' you could just edit that part and repost the entire story in all its renewed glory.

Just a thought, but that's how I'd do it.

I don't think it's a good idea.

It wouldn't be smart to finish a story and have readers read it then go back and change the plot. That messes up things. Plot changes can only be accomplished successfully if the writer never released the story and changed the plot during editing. But seeing as how we're getting each chapter as it's written, I don't think that's going to be happening; or should'nt be happening, anyway.

that would be impossible, as there is a limit to the amount of charactors per post that you can input. So techincally, he couldnt edit his first post and put the whole story in.

I think its interesting how the Forerunner killed all of Truth's brutes, but still left Truth alive... hmm? is it because of the Prophets relationship to the Forerunner? Or is it that the Forerunner kept him alive and had other ideas for his use? Hmmm.... as Gravemind said, "But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on..."

I think the Chief and the Arbiter are going to have trouble in the next chapter or so, even though Clark hasnt really shown a huge problem between the two, as every time they describe each other it is in a skeptical mannor, rather than a hostile mannor. Even though they both know they need each other to complete their mission of destroying the Flood and Defeating the Covenant, I believe they will still have much trouble trusting each other. I mean, after a long time of fighting, wouldnt it be hard to break that instinct to kill? I think the Arbiter trusts the Chief more than the Chief trusts the Arbiter.

Well, that's how a writer writes his story. Granted, it is a little different here since it's all posted already, but still, it could be done. I'd love to read it all right next to each other. Like you're reading a real book. But it's up to Mr_Clark to decide that, and I think you're right. There's a different set of rules when posting a story chapter by chapter.

Maybe he could make it like a movie and release a sort of 'director's cut' when he's done. In it he could add the changes he wanted, unless it would be too long. I still don't think he should change the actual story in its entirity though.

Its true that the one major advantage of fanfiction would have to be the fact that, unlike published writing, we fanfic authors can simply go back and edit whatever we don't like about our story at any time. There isn't anything we actually have to answer to, aside from our readers, and with enough calm mantra's, even they can be swayed to the Dark Side.

I like to think of myself as the exception to that rule. What I put down on paper/computer screen, stays there. I made the decision to kill the Spec Ops Major, and I'm gonna have to live with it. Despite people's views, I do have a small modicum of self image, and suddenly declaring that I made a mistake, and have to go significantly alter the story is something I am fundamentally against.

Sure its a cool idea, but I would certainly hate to do that to you guys. I mean, my story's bad enough without making everyone read it twice right?

Mr_Clark, I am in desperate need for adivce for my story-
How did you come up with the name Atoning Deviant? I'm completely stumped.
Why I'm asking this is because I have another Halo in my story and I need a name for the monitor for Installation 02. I've asked all my friends and they're stumped too; figures.

call him halo2stu.

just call him defiant truth or something weird like that.

  • 08.05.2005 8:23 AM PDT

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

Well, Scorp and Clark, I see what y'all are saying. I personally am making a fanfiction about an Elite and his kickass special forces squadron on Delta Halo after the breakup of the Covenant. I have around 8 short chapters which I am trying to lengthen and beef up. I'm editing it all constantly back and forth, but I haven't posted it anywhere and nobody but me has seen it, so I feel as if it's ok. It's my first real fanfiction anyway, so I can afford for it to be bad.

Didnt the names of the monitors have something all in common?
Guilty Spark and Penitent Tangent mean basically the same thing, and Atoning is the same as feeling guilty, plus tangent/deviant are also synonomous.
So just find a name like 7 Rueful Wayward. that is a bad name, but the words sort of mean the same thing as the other three.
The number is for Installation 02, since 343 is for 04, then 03 would 49, and so on.

Well, Guilty is synonymous with Penitent. So all you really need to do is find a list of synonyms for the word guilty, or penitent and go from there. Deviant was just a clever little addition I added on to make the monitor have a bit of personality in his name.

That's right, Atoning Deviant is from Halo Installation 01, so his correct name is 1 Atoning Deviant, but that sounds dumb, so I have him always introduce himself as "The first". Which sounds better, and also gives an insight into his own particular self-image.

I want to see someone make a Halo fanfic, but instead of focusing on mastercheif and the arbiter, focus on a squad of marines that are fighting elsewhere. Or something of that sort.
