Oh my god no! What have we done to deserve this God, what have we done? This totally sucks.
I have quite a bit of experience with computers but I can say I'm stumped as to how to uncorrupt a MS Word file. Is it a .doc? If so, try to open it in Notepad as Sniper_744 suggested. If that doesn't work, do a restart or call Tech Support.
Everyone already said these ideas but it's not my fault for repeating them, I just don't think there's anything else you can do. =(
But trust me dude, I know how you feel. Not really the exact same situation, but I'll tell it anyway.
Here's what happened. I have a really big ego and I like to brag that I'm good at Halo. Well, my friend bet me $1,000 that I couldn't beat the whole game on Legendary in one sitting without dying a single time. The bet was that if I did it he would give me $1,000 (which was being held by a third party so I know it was legit), and if I didn't, I would only have to give him $50. Well, the odds were too good to resist and I had an extra $50 bucks to bet so we began. We loaded up on lots of chips, red bull, coke, coffee, and pretty much anything else you can imagine. We pulled the XBox out from under my TV and pulled it a ways back so my eyes wouldn't get so strained from sitting so close to it. So the power cable was laying across the carpet of our living room. I bet most of you can see what's coming next. Anyway, after around 28 hours (literally) of non-stop gaming, and slow excruciating play, I had made it to the scarab in Great Journey. I hadn't died once yet, and I could see victory in sight and me holding the $1,000 in my hand. It was beautiful to imagine. Anyways, after the cutscene I decided to take a water break and I sent my girlfriend who was watching me play to the kitchen to bring us some coke 'cause we had ran out. Well, on her way back... she tripped over the extension cord and unplugged the XBox. Needless to say there was no save, and I was feeling so down I didn't even want to bother trying it again. We figured since I didn't win, but didn't technically die either, it wasn't my fault and no one had to pay anything. It still sucked though. To work so hard and to have it all taken away from you in an instant is like one of the worst feelings ever.
Oh, but it wasn't that bad though. To make it up to me she laid me so good that night I thought I had died from the shock and gone to heaven. ;)
Well, good luck on the chapter Mr. Clark. :)
