Sorry, makaveili, I misspoke. What I meant was, both the Majal and the Forerunner didn't necessarily 'win' whatever war occurred between them, or at least we can assume as much, because both seem to be pretty nonexistent in the universe at the present time in the story. That ones my bad.
As for Gravemind, I'm really curious as to what he might actually be. If we go on the assumption that the Half-Breed is whatever the hell is with the prophet of truth, then Gravemind might not be a Half-Breed because his appearence doesn't particularily match. Or perhaps he's actually a weapon used by the Half-Breeds, as from one of Cyriacus' memories, we can conclude that the Half-Breeds had at least some base control over the Flood. Or maybe he was created by the Majal, as some kind of weapon to use against the Half-Breed. Turning the Flood against them maybe? I'm not sure, but I'm betting he's important.
There was one other thing that bugged me about the last chapter. Anybody remember this line of Fasul's?
“I apologize for the loss of your friend,” Fasul said, his tone conveying a true sense of remorse. “This was necessary however. Cyriacus possessed strength of which I had never seen before. He was the only Reclaimer ever to have killed a Half Breed in ground combat.”
We just saw Cyriacus decimate, a Forerunner ship, and an entire battallion of Covenant ground forces.
From the way Fasul is talking, it sounds like he's saying Cyriacus only ever managed to kill ONE of the Half-Breeds, throughout the war. Exactly how powerful are the Half-Breeds?
