ditto that mr c i feel the same way

if you spend to much time on the weapon you lose touch with the characters and story line

writing is all about balance you need the right amount of everything not just one thing over and over again

alright, new page :)

oh ye and mr c one more thing,
do you know how many chapters your story is gonna have?

I just have to say again Mr Clark, your chapters are top class. I know your not trying to, but don't put yourself down. Nylund and Deitz, as professional as they are, write stories no more interesting than yours. What I suggest though, something you have left out, is enemy dialouge. One of the most exciting aspects of First Strike and The Flood is the enemy's story, the interaction between the Elite's, and as you have said, the Grunts. I think you should include some Brute stories, something along the lines of their reaction to losing Tartarus, condeming the Arbiter, just before him and The Cheif bust in and Own the life out of them all.
Just a suggestion, but it was a very enjoyable aspect of the books.
Nevertheles, KEEP IT UP, WE LOVE YOU!!!
YYEEEAAHHH!!!
GO CLARK, GO CLARK, IT'S YA BIRTHDAY, IT'S YA BIRTHDAY!!!!
Ahem....sorry...

i never noticed that but come to think of it in my opinion having enemy diolouge in it might make it even better than it already is and in my opinion it already cant get much better

meaning that i love the story im not being sarcastic or anything

Alright I need some feedback here people. I've been going nuts thinking over some of the many theories I'll be forced to implement into this story, by the time it reaches it's conclusion. Here goes:

Looking over several well-discussed ideas and theories involving certain Covenant circumstances, I've fallen into a stand-still. Do the Covenant as a whole have a home world? Like Earth? Or was High Charity the Covenant equivalent of a home world?

We all know the Elites and the Prophets were engaged in a bitter war before the eventual discovery of Forerunner technology solidified their partnership, with Elites being a kind of body guard for the Prophets.

What is not really discussed is whether a planet was set up as a kind of base of operations. Many would argue that High Charity was such a place, but I really can't see it being the centerpoint of the Covenant hierarchy.

Its revealed in Halo: The Flood that the Prophets had evolved on a planet which the Forerunner had occupied at one point in time. They then subsequently abandoned it for reasons unknown (more Flood appearences perhaps?). Obviously the Elites had to have had a homeworld where they evolved and grew in size and intelligence. Is this planet still around? The Grunts have a home world, we all know this was revealed in Halo: The Flood as well, with several Grunts dreaming about returning to their methane filled planet instead of fighting in the war.

In Halo: First Strike, the Admiral on Reach talked about the huge nuclear device, a planet-buster, that he surmised the Covenant might take back to their home world to study and then go ka-boom.

So do the Covenant have a home-world? Or is it broken up into several different planets or systems that each species and race inhabits?

Tell me what you think please.

No, it seemed kinda like a death star, too small to be their actual homeworld, I mean, the Unyielding Hierophant was probably bigger, even with all those ships surrounding it.

Nay, they have a bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger homeworld with much more defense.

Didnt it say in one of the books that the Security codes were changed every millisecond or something???

i think that each species has a home world
mabey the prophets settled on another planet like a second home type thing

and the planet killer they talked about was called a nova it was a cluster of nucs in some sort of lithium casings or something and when they go off they push the cassings together creating a huge pressure wave that magnafies the damage done by the nucs 200 fold

but i think the unsc just blew up reach not one of their home worlds

mr c could you answer my earlier question please

how many chapters will the story have?

I think that High Charity was not their home world because it was way too small.
Besides, far as I can tell there were no Covenant females on board High Charity, they would need them to reproduct right?
I think the Covenant home world is a planet, with some kind of orbital defense system like the MAC guns above Earth.

High charity is like a moving base of the covenant armada. each race has a home world with some sort of training school for warriors and production plants for ships, weapons, vehicles etc. but what bugs me is where did the profits come from? if they had a home world then there must be more than three? and why are they all male? there is definetley a link between them three and forerunners. well thats my ideas

Hmm. I'm not too sure you can pick out a hint from what I was saying there, I could just be trying to keep you guys occupied while I finish up Chapter 10. Though the last time there was speculation running with Limited Edition and Soulguard, as well as myself, that had a purpose.

As for how long this story is going to be, I'm not entirely sure myself. Once chapter 10 is released this story will be over 60 pages long, with over 30,000 words. How much longer can I stretch the storyline? That my friends is a good question. To satisfy your quandries I shall say, it'll be somewhere around 21 chapters I'd guess. Maybe a bit more, but probably not any less.

Here's one more thing, if there is indeed a Covenant homeworld, do you think the Prophet of Truth would have sent word back that the Elites/Grunts/Hunters were to be destroyed?

Hey, Mr_Clark, is writing a chapter with a lot of dialogues harder than writing a chapter with a lot of action?

I will never leave a fallen comrade.

Yes the Covenant have a home world for each species, but i think the elites have more than one. High Charity was there main base because that was where the three very important prophets stayed and they had there biggest fleet anyone had every seen there, also the mausoleum of the arbirters was on High charity and that is very important to the Covenant. I am sure it is broken up into several different planets like the humans had, but Earth was the main base.

Dialogue is somewhat more difficult to write than a chapter that focuses more on action.

A problem I've seen many authors run into however with writing chapters based solely around action (not a bad thing, since this is Halo fanfiction, and everything about the name screams action) is that the writer might just be thinking: "The fight scenes in the Matrix Revolutions were awesome, I'm gonna put one like that in this chapter." And then goes on to write a chapter existing of lines like: The Master Chief gripped his gun tightly as thousands of Flood infectious forms beared down on him. Laughing to himself he raised a hand and motioned for them to come at him. The first carrier form that reached him was punched hard and flew back 30 meters to slam into a wall and explode in a gory mess of torn flesh and blood.

Things like that, where the author tries to write an action scene from a movie into a book, just can't be done. Books can be adapted into movies, and movies can be adapted into books, but there can never be just a straight conversion.

Another thing a writer has to avoid while writing action is to fall into the trap. The trap is having an entire sequence consisting of: ...and then he shot the creature, and then he punched it, and then he did this, then did that.

That's something you'll see a lot of in fanfiction, and its something I've worked hard to not include in mine.

So while a dialogue chapter may be more difficult than an action chapter, I do enjoy them. Creating the constant flow of language between characters is challenging, especially since you need to keep the reader's attention.

You never know with Mr. C, he could kill of all humanity and have the Covies win in the end.

I think that there is a Covenant homeworld, but also individual planets that the others inhabit. The homeworld would most likely be a military planet, completely dedicated to the creation of the Covenant war machine.

Thats too long too have too wait.
And i think that high charity is basically like the death start from star wars. Nothing but a huge ship wit ha massive fleet onboard. Except high charity has some culture to it also. Like that Arbiter chamber, and that counsol chamber. It makes allot of sense too make it wheree every race has its own home world. Thats just the way it would be because i dont think every species of covenant "EVOLVED" on the same planet. And if they did that would be home base. Like earth was the humans home world every other covenant should have their own. ESPECIALLY PROPHETS.

20 chapters would be moree than enough story for me. even if you stopedat 15 i would not cry. Are the humans going too prevail or will they die?
I said it was like a Death Star!
