Don't ya kinda have to bump this thread to post your chapters? Uh Oh the mod messed up, this thread is a guaranteed locked then if you post any more chapters.
hehe
Stupid mod.
Posting another chapter to his fanfic would not be considered bumping, because it is a continuation of the thread. Posting about his Xbox 360 not working is off topic for this thread and off topic for this forum, so it is just a bump.
I'm going to be watching all of these fanfic threads much closer now, because it just seems people are trying to have a large thread and are missing the point of the thread. He should post a chapter, and then the other members should just talk about the story. Tell him what he did well and give constructive criticism.
If anybody else goes off topic in this thread, that member will get one warning. If that member does it again, I will give them a week off (but I will not lock Mr_Clark's thread for other people's idiocy). If Mr_Clark goes off topic again and talks about anything but his fanfic, I will just lock the thread.
Keep this thread the way it should be, a fanfic. Mr_Clark has done a lot of work here; and even if you don't believe me, I'd rather not lock this thread and "ruin" his work.
Oh yeah, stupid blacklisted member. Try to use your brain before making an asinine comment.
PS: I do have a little constructive criticism for Mr_Clark: It might be helpful if you link your Table of Contents on the first page to the posts that the chapter is located. To do this, you must determine what the post ID is for that particular post, which can be done by hitting the "Reply" button and looking at the url. You can than link to the chapter as shown:
Chapter 12
Which would then look like:
Chapter 12
As you see, it links you directly to the first post of that chapter. It makes it a little easier to navigate the large thread and find the chapters easily. Make sure you put the space after the first ] an before the "Chapter", because when you go to edit the post it will put a space in the middle of "Chapter" if the space is not there. PM me if you have any questions if you decide to do this.
Ah, all right I understand now, but please don't think that I'm some delinquent hell bent on amassing posts to boost my ego. I mean, I was at one time quite eager to keep this thread dedicated to nothing more than stuff about the story. In between updates of chapters, when the wait began to grow, I'd ask for the forum goers to simply let the thread die, but by that time this story had gotten to the point where it was popular enough that a small community was built so people could go off and talk about other things without it being a sole effort by a single forum-goer.
When I noticed that I myself was being pulled into that dangerous circle of off-topicness, I created a blog where I could talk about other things than this story, and have people talk on there. Click the bottom link in my sig for the truth to that statement. Unfortunately as I soon found out, people would quite simply read whatever I said in my blog, and then come back here and just talk about what I'd written in the thread, thus eliminating the sole reason I started the blog.
Around that time I pretty much gave up and let the thread degenerate into chaos, myself contributing to it as well, which I understand is quite obviously against the forum rules. But at the time since every other fanfic thread that was large enough had wound up in the same situation, I figured what the hell.
I apologize if my initial response was brusque after your first post, but at the time I had assumed I was on the receiving end of a singular effort. That my thread was to be the only one policed, but now I understand it's not to be, so I shall offer apologies on my part, as well as for the readers who apparently thought the same as I.
In regards to your advice on managing the Table of Contents, that is quite interesting, as I had not realized it was possible to link to a sole post like that. Earlier on in this thread's life I had simply lazy linked to the page the chapter dwelt on, but unfortunately as time passed and more and more chapters were released, I ran out of space for doing the linking, and had to erase some of the prologue, which was quite hard to do. Finally I gave up and just posted what page it was on, but seeing as how this thread is over a year old now, I could probably erase the prologue and do the linking as you suggested. More than likely I can direct people to the area on fanfiction.net where the prologue is housed in its original, sloppy form. Now it seems I'm rambling on here so I'll wrap things up.
From now on I shall try and become what I was back in the early days of this thread's life, appearing solely to give information on the new chapter, and to post said chapters, and to answer any questions people have about this story.
I ask that my reader's do the same, stoping by only to criticize my work, theorize about the story or whatever development occured in the latest chapter, or to ask me questions pertaining to the story's plot. I would assume that these are all safe options for someone to post about, so hopefully dmbfan09 will stop by once again and correct me if anything I've listed falls under the wrong category, saving any poster from potential warnings.
