There's a thread on here with a poll asking who is the best fanfic writer on the site, and I think a duty falls on all of us to go and vote for Mr. C, cause in reality, his novel is really, undeniably, the best of the best.

"which writer you prefer" is basically code for "which writer you think is the best, but please don't start a flame war over it"

I happen to agree with that, so please, if you do offer your opinion in any kind of thread like that, be as nice as possible. We've already seen flame-war fallout on this thread before, and I like to keep this thread clutter free, and as easily accessable as possible.

If it's the taming of the Hunters that would be good as you would be able to do some good fight scenes with that.

If it was the Grunt rebellion then imagine the carnage! Grunts masing by the thousands to overrun groups of prophets and Elites! Heh heh that would be good.

Just a couple of questions :-

1. In the taming of the Hunters I assume this means they have not yet joined the Covenant.
Hunters are composed of multiple organisms that exist within the Hunter armour. If their armour is given to them by the Covenant then how do all the organisms stay together if they do not yet have the armour?
Also, what weapons would they use? In the Halo 2 limited edition DVD, in the cutscenes that did not make it into the game, there is one where the Prophet Shows the Arbiter how the Covenant were formed throughout the 7 ages. On one of the tablets you can see an Elite standing upon a pile of Hunter corpses (I think), with a spear embedded into one of them. What weapons would the Hunters have used?

2. In the Grunt rebellion, It sounds as if the Grunts are already in the covenant but are not happy. I assume they want to try and break away because of the way they are treated and how they are used as cannon fodder. Would this event be far enough into the history of the covenant so that they would be using plasma weaponary (pistols, rifles etc...?),
because if not then the Idea of a grunt going to fight an elite using a spear or a blade make me laugh. Can anyone answer these questions?

Its not clearly defined if the armor the Hunters use was given to them by the Covenant, so perhaps they constructed the base armor themselves. You'll recall that the Hunters were always victorious against the Covenant when they fought on the ground, but they were eventually tamed by the Covenant aerial bombardments from their capitol ships.

I believe that before the Covenant attached the Fuel Rod Guns onto their armor, the Hunters simply used their massive bulk and superior size as their only weapon, along with the heavy, sharp spines located on the arms of their armor.

I'm betting the Grunt Rebellion occurred somewhere in the Age of Doubt, which is after the Age of Discovery.

The Age of Discovery is when the Covenant began to create many of their technologies from existing Forerunner artifacts, so I'd imagine that during the Grunt Rebellion plasma pistols and rifles were standard issue firearms for the Covenant.

Hope that helped.

Yeah, thanks very much, It cleared alot of stuff up for me.

Ahhh, but wait. If the Hunter is composed of multiple organisms, how many exist within a single hunter? And I doubt the organisms had any idea of how to construct the giant shields located on their forearm. Maybe they had primitive armour like you said in your last chapter.
You said the Elites armour was not really meant to protect him, it was more for show, to Indicate his presence.

Hey Mr. Clark. I've read your stuff on fanfiction.net, and randomly stumbled onto the Bungie forums the other day and saw you had posted your stuff on here.

Just thought I'd tell you how great you are. I wouldn't be surprised if half the people reading this story have a nagging thought in the back of their minds that your actually Eric Nylund and your testing out some new plotlines he's thinking of putting in the next line of Halo books.

Also, to Scorptank, if you could give me a link, I'd be glad to offer my opinion of your story.

hmmm....havent posted in a while. anyways while the whole covenate history lesson was great im still dieng to know what happends to the master cheif and the arbiter.
Oh and ive just read Sir Brilliants Fan Fic. Ive noticed one big difference bettween mr.Clark and Sir Brilliants writting. Sir Brilliant Work looks like fan fiction. Mr. Clarks Looks like an actuall novel. Even though this is not the offical story thats going to happen in halo 3 I remember looking back at it and thinking i cant wait to see how that translates into the game before relizeing that it wasnt going to happen. Anyways Id just like Mr.Clark to know that we had to do an assignment at school about our top 3 favorite authors and i put Mr.Clark as number 2. (Eric Nuylund was first)

I have to admit, after reading this, I'm going to have a hard time adjusting to the Halo 3 storyline. Mr. Clark made it so professional and actual novel-like that I sometimes get confused and think this is da actual novel. God, I love you Mr. Clark!

In Sir_Clarke's signature theres a link to that for a clear and easy to read site. ^^Thats it^^

In chapter 12 he has an author's :

" A/N: Wow, this was a hard chapter to write. Both because of the style, and all the new stuff. Surprisingly the length wasn’t really an issue, which should be good news for all you readers. I’ll be able to make all my chapters close to this length from now on I think.

I warned you guys, this chapter is going to be something different. So prepare yourselves before venturing downwards. Also remember this, the way to understand what’s going in this chapter is to have a basic understanding of the Covenant history, and to look at the title of this chapter. It is very very very very important. If you require the necessary knowledge of the Covenant’s past, I recommend googling ‘Halo Library’ and finding the first site the pops up. "

The site that first popped up was this : http://library.psyjnir.net/
It's a glitchy site that has quite a few errors and bugs. But you can still read through it. There are a SEVEN, yes, SEVEN, acts. Here is the link http://library.psyjnir.net/?id=460

Someone already provided a link but I'll do it again just in case you didn't see it.

The story uninterrupted.

Sorry if you've answered this already, but how many history-of-the-covenent retelling chapters are you gonna do?

I'm doing three, count 'em, three chapters on the history of the Covenant. I'll be covering the three most important Ages (in my mind at least, however scary that is). We've already seen the Age of Abandonment, and the events of Halo and Halo 2 take place in the Age of Reclamation so we can cross those off the list. That leaves 5 other Ages.

Which one is coming next? I won't say.

Why?

Because I'm a jerk.

Look for Chapter 13 this Saturday, or Sunday. I'm aiming for a chapter around the same length as Chapter 12, so that means a nice long one for all of you.

With Chapter 13's release this coming weekend, that means we're only one more chapter away before we get back to the action with the Master Chief and the Arbiter.

Yay!

Edit: Thanks highland brute, didn't see the bump post before. Yes, you don't need to bump the thread. We've got enough support around here where I don't look at the forums and weep out of the injustice of humanity. I can drag this thread out of the screaming, writhing depths of this forum whenever I have something important to say, or a new chapter to upload. If you've got something to say, even if its just to say 'this story rocks my socks!' go ahead. It all gets read by me.
