Good to have you back, Mr_Clark, for a moment I thought you were lying in a hospital or something....

This story will mark the end of my career writing fanfiction, and I will make the official transition to full novel writing.

So... you've been writing since you were about thirteen years? Okay, that's about five years of fanfiction, some sort of practice?
I am hoping to start my own Fantasy book sometime soon, I have some idea's but it's terribly hard to create enough versatile, credible characters.

Well, whatever you are going to write in the future, I'm sure to read it. At least if it is going to be a war-like novel.
I'm looking forward to chapter 18, it sounds good.

Mr Clark, do you intend to post all 26 pages in this thread?

'Cos it's going to be a bloody big post!

Not necessarily practise, though I would have to say it certainly did do my writing in general a world of good. In no other form of writing could I so easily receive feedback, glowing in praise and scornful in criticism.

I suppose it was but a simple stepping stone towards the next level. My first experiences as but a young lad of grade school, writing such great pieces as 'The Harrowing Ten', and 'Deadfall', stories whose plotlines evaded me, and where character development was limited to either dying or surviving. Those were the first steps I'd say, and now the world of fanfiction I must leave behind as well.

As for the Battle of Agincourt, I was talking about the Shakespeare play, Henry V, moreso than the actual battle. I suppose the relation you can form in regards to what is coming in Chapter 18 would be to remember King Henry's speech to his men as the bedraggled English troops faced the vastly larger French army. For those that haven't read the play (shame on you!) I'll post the speech here, which is assuredly one of the most moving of wartime speech's ever given, even if it is fictional, as Shakespeare wrote this more than two hundred years after the actual Agincourt battle.

Anyways, here it is:

WESTMORELAND: O that we now had here
But one ten thousand of those men in England
That do no work to-day!

KING: What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

And I most certainly do intend to post the entire Chapter 18 in this thread, though I will say it now so that you shall be prepared, that you would be wise to read the chapter on fanfiction.net. I say this simply because of the many bits of foul language used throughout the chapter, which shall be censored on the forums.

Normally I wouldn't believe it to be intregal to the story, but the vein of mood and atmosphere could be broken each time Johnson curses, and instead of the emotional outburst, we are given -blam!- in its place.

Just a recommendation though.

Those are a very Good 2 Cents. I call, and raise you a buck.

I see your buck and raise you 3 . . .

I pay the extra $4 and suddenly take a look at what i have, and if you would be paying close enough attention you would see a slight grin that could only be noticed by the few who know me. I also put in an extra 5 bucks to make this game get interesting.

There's enough fanfic threads with ridiculous posts that we really don't need to add to them. Let this thread die until Friday, when we'll all have something to talk about.

The name of the novel I can't give, mainly because there's several iterations of it floating around inside my head and I haven't chosen one as of yet. Don't worry, when the day comes that I finish it and a publisher deems it worthy of being released I'll give you guys a heads-up.

As for my real name, it'll remain a mystery for now. Though the truly inquisitive amongst you could probably find it out pretty easily. Namely by clicking on my profile and seeing which e-mail I have registered to this account. But keep it a secret if you do.

Finally, I'm just putting the wraps on Chapter 18. Its gargantuan in size, and I truly expect to be editing this thing for a long time. Come Friday evening it should be finished, so look for it then.
