The planet hadn’t changed at all since the last time he had seen it. The desert sand that covered nearly the entire planet was still around, and if pillars of fire and the corpses of other Prophets were strewn about, the landscape would be identical to the last time he had set eyes upon it.

There is an evil here, one that will slaughter us all should we awaken it.
His withered body protested the action of moving about, but the Prophet of Truth was not so foolish as to use his hover chair out on the planet’s surface. He had ordered that any and all technological devices be turned off, and never used. The same went for their weapons. Truth knew that even the slightest hint of artificial power could have them be detected.

It cannot be, how did they find us so fast!?
Shrouded in robes that were thick and flowing, a lone creature stood on the far horizon, staring at the assembled Covenant members with curiosity.
The Jiralhanae Captain looked back at the creature in confusion, and then turned to the Prophet of Truth.
“Your eminence, what is that creature?” he asked.
“That,” Truth said, his voice dry and cracked. He cleared his throat, his eyes never leaving the figure that stood, watching them.
“That is a Forerunner.”

Holy smokes!
Great Chapter!
Loved the ending! So Truth is afraid for his life and knows that the Forerunner are so advanced they know when technology is near. Hopefully the Forerunner will wipe out Truth and his band of misfits, then reclaim the ship and bring order to the vast galaxies. Truth remembers his home planet, hmmm, old bugger isn't he. I'm guessing in some Prophet vs Forerunner war, a group of Prophets managed to steal the ship and somehow get away leaving the Forerunner stranded there. The Prophets must have destroyed any other ships and then run off to start "The Covenent" as we know and hate them today.
It appears that the Forerunner also live a freakishly long time and they would love some payback!
That makes me think of some theories...
Prophets just want to use the halos against the last of the Forrunner...
This ship was the only surving ship from when the halos were activated... and thus was the ark or was near/on the ark.
WOW! The ending made me practically forget the whole rest of the story! Don't get me wrong, the whole thing was sweet but wow! Anyway, loved the chapter! Keep it up!
