I need a weapon.

The other day some guy was arguing with me on here about how its dumb that the new weapons are going to suddenly appear in the hands of the soldiers on earth since they weren't in the first Halo. I just wanted to settle the issue once and for all. The only people we ever saw using human weapons in Halo 1 were the marines and the MC. How do we know that the humans on Earth haven't been using the "new" weapons that are appearing in Halo 2 the entire time? We never saw anyone on Earth in Halo 1, so we just don't know. Perhaps the SMG and the BR are not issued to the marines for whatever reason, they could be an Army only weapon, or perhaps the Pillar of Autumn just wasnt outfitted with them at the time for whatever reason. We have to understand that the Pillar of Autumn was ONE ship and the entire scope of human weaponry (and vehicles for that matter) was limited to what was on the Autumn at the time that it escaped from Reach. Well, im glad i got that off my chest. You all can respond if u want to

Make this a little easier on ya kid. Some of the weapons their have been mentioned in the books. For everything else... In halo, we had one small ship, and I bet that we might have had those weapons on the POA, but, they could have either not have been on the ship, or been destroyed by impact on the ring, or they could have been in use by marines in other parts of the ring. As for the covies, they were sending in search parties for the control room, why would they need their best weapons to do that. To them, the humans weren't really a threat, then the flood came...

Simple answer. Those weapons were all prototypes still in testing during the time of the Halo Campaign. Halo 2 then starts a few scant weeks (like a month tops) after the events of Halo. So your friend is more right on that issue of firearm distribution and production. A concept I have said time and time again, but people are either too tick or too idiotic to listen.
