If you have a monitor capable of 1600x1200 get the 256 meg video card. IF not dont. Also, i recommend the new ATI instead of the new NVIDIA. Try a gig or ram too. Otherwise looks good

Well i have a 17 inch widescreen HDtv LCD that can act as a monitor... i assume that it is capable of 1600x1200...

and yeah i recently began looking at the new ATI card, but it doesnt support Directx 9.0c (is that really that important, because if its not i will definitely get the ATI)

Oh and how much does 1 gig of ram cost?

That's a really good deal for $1449. 512 Mb ram is really good. If you can get one gig for cheap, then good, but there's not any games out there that need more than 512, and if you wait awhile to buy more ram, then it'll come cheaper, but if you can get it cheap now, go for it. And it has a nice and strong video card, that's good. Anything above that drives the price up disproportionatly.

But as long as you get the pc from someone reliable, then it'll last a long time.

Yes the specs you have there are great. Just remember that the 6800 requires a hefty power supply (450w or better), and i would suggest a major power supply maker like Antec (they have great stuff) as they have alot of 5w dongles (the 6800 takes 2 alone) on thier supplies and have dedicated SATA instead of adapters . Also what motherboard are you using? I have that same processor on a Asus K8V deluxe with the Via K8T800 bios (first edition board). This mother board carries a 3 year warrantee (which is nice) and took the top 3 best AMD 64bit motherboard ratings for tomshardware.com for 2 years. Be sure and get 2 extra fans for that case too. you will need alot of convection (air flow) for the video and processor to keep cool since the 6800's dont vent out of a PCI slot space. If you are using the onboard sound make sure what ever sound system you are using has a digital input, or you wont get the 5.1 effect. I would also suggest getting another stick of 512 ram, or getting a matched pair. You dont really "need" it as far as minimum specs for new games go, but it nice to always be over the minimum in my opinion. If you need any help with building this killer system dont be afraid to head over to my topic, and i will give you any help you need to bring that monster to life.

My computers' specs:
Asus K8v Deluxe K8T800
AMD 64bit Athlon 3200+
2 X 512mb DDR 400 Matched RAM
2 X 120 GB Seagate SATA Hard Drives (Raid Striped)
Plextor PX- 708 A Combo DVD/R/W/RW/ CD/R/W/RW
GeforceFX 5950ultra 256MB (soon to be upgraded to the 6800)
Sound Blaster Audigy2ZS Platinum Pro
Antec Super Lanboy Aluminium w/480w True-blue PS
6.1 THX surround sound system (cambridge soundworks)
