Halo 2 has absolutely brilliant levels but unfortunately, it lacks the originality of the original. Halo has that ummphh that no other game has. Halo 3 will be another story with people already trying to guess the story line. Your comments please!!

Ya man, halo 1 is a far superior game

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Halo was more "open" so to speak. The levels in Halo 2 have alot of confined areas where you only have a little bit of manuverability compared to Halo 1.

In Halo 2 there's only a few wide open spaces that compare to Halo 1, and most of them require vehicles.

Another thing, there's only one automatic human weapon...the wild-accuracy SMG. The Pistol and AR in Halo 1 were fully automatic; you could dictate their bullet-bursts to add or take away accuracy. I'm missing those fully-auto's. :-/

Halo 2 still rules.

hey but seriously, originality issues? The very fact that the Covenant didn't actually invade earth screamed originality. But anyway, Halo itself took place in the middle of a conflict, with either side being fully aware of the potential of the other. Therefore halo 2 could only incrementally increase the number of changes, since it would be confusing to introduce 20 new species, 60 new guns, 30 vehicles, etc etc... either game brings new aspects to the gaming table, while still maintaining the original plot. Go Bungie Go!

Thanks everyone for your replies I really thank anyone who replies and hope many more will in the future. I love the lvel on halo 1 which has the island on halo and you are looking for the control room and u can go all the way around it on the beech. It kicks ass. On Halo 2 you do not see any levels like this as they are all in buildings or in cities with no out door environments where you can get lost or mess about in. Everybody loves the second level on Halo 1 where you have to gather the marines, that level is amazing, it was the first level I ever played. AAwwwww the memories :) neway more comments please!!!

I think Halo 2 has better maps on average, but Halo 1 does have the greatest map: Chill Out.

I hate it when people say theirs to much invisible walls and confined areas. The invisible wall at sea was there for a purpose, and so was the Zanzibar,Waterworks etc.{Oddball anyone?}. Also Delta Halo has no invisible wall until the actual side of the level. Also a lot of invisible walls were for the Banshee.

Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.

The only thing Halo 1 has over Halo 2, in my opinion, is the fact that it has the map hang em high. As far as I'm concerned Halo 2 beats Halo 1 in every area. However, there is one thing Halo 1 did for me that Halo2 didn't get a chance to do. It turned me from a xbox hating Sony fanboy into a LAN party hosting, Master Chief worshiping, Xbox lover that recently sold his PS2 to buy a Xbox Live starter kit that I won't even be able to use until DSL is available in my area.

Well the only thing bad about halo 2 is that it needs the old maps that were in halo 1.

Section VIII

halo 2 levels are way better than halo 1 levels. Except for: Waterworks, Colossus, Foundation, and Beaver Creek

Most Halo: Combat Evolved maps don't work in Halo 2 because you spawn with close range weapons. HeH would suck with SMG starts.

Exactly. HeH is basically going to be like colossus if they remake it for H2. First to get and protect their sniper is basically going to jump out to the lead and have the best chance at winning the game.

H2 levels are terrible and are not fun. You cant even LAN with them unless you have a signifigant amount of players. We used to do 2v2 constantly and could play for so many hours. The levels were just the right size for 2v2 were you could actually run into players. Now we have Lockout, which is decent at best, but lacks the feel that a Chill Out or Hang em High had. Foundation which is blah, but lacks the feel that wizard had. Now the Halo CE stages have no room to be in H2 because they wont work and still wont improve the game.

i agree. Halo 2 is not as good without sidewinder and the levels are too easy...Halo 1 had the better levels (namely Two betrayels. that is one hard level to do on legendary!). Halo 1 had me going back to finish all levels on legendary which i did but 2 didnt.
PS. how is johnson in halo 1 legendary endin but ends up survivn into Halo 2? WTF is going on?

ive gotta say, that may have been the most logical post i have seen in a very long time. i totally agree, halo 2 is missing the wide open levels, and that doesnt mean BIG levels, just more open in general, like prisoner and hang 'em high. of course there's blood gulch, but i just hate that map in halo 2.

the levels in halo 2 are smarter and more complex, but simplicity is often a lot better.

I've found that in quite a few of the levels in H2 when i first played it, You could easily run through most of the levels leaving everyone else behind ^-^;;

Well, great, now we don't have to respect your opinion, because Coag is probably the worst map in the game.

I miss being able to drive into the ocean all the time with a Worthog. But Halo 2 has better weapons. I still like Halo a lot more than Halo 2.

Halo 2 has unique levels that appeal to more gametypes and have more variety than Halo 1 levels. For example, the only big maps supporting vehicles on Halo 1 were Sidewinder and Blood Gulch. Sidewinder was a glitch-filled mess, and was practically not even worth playing on. So that leaves only one decent map for big team battles in Halo 1. Meanwhile, Halo 2 has a variety of maps for huge battles, and the majority of the maps have vehicles, such as Ascension, Coagulation, Burial Mounds, Zanzibar, Waterworks and Headlong.

one of the only reasons haloCE is still better than its sequel is the awesome level design, so i agree totally.
