Here a random topic for all you ghouls of The Flood.
500 Spartans
RE-EDIT!!!! Each Spartan is armed with only 1 Plasma Sword which doesn't have infinate ammo like in multiplayer.

Knights are wearing full chainmail and full armor. They are armed with swords, maces, and battle axes. Some Knights have shields also.
Samurai are wearing full Samurai armor and are only armed with Japanese swords, mainly Kitanas I think.
Roman Empire Soliders have full Empire Armor on. They are only equiped with swords, spears and full frontal shields.

Battle Takes place in a big open grass field.
RE-EDITED!!!!!!! Each Spartan is armed with only 1 sword. And I mean the Covenant Plasma Swords! (Which doesn't have infinate ammo.)

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Puny metal spears and swords would have very little effect on the Spartan's shields. They could stand still and win.

Spartans would win if they kept their distance. Blast em with the SMGs

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

MC's Bro was right; they couldn't do much at all aghainst the shields. The Spartans coukd win with their bare hands. Well, MJOLNIR armor covered.

if all spartans spread out in a line equal to the line formed by the knights they, they could throw their grenades one by one and wipe them out...think about it...2000 grenades...

I don't really feel the power of a Halo 2 Frag Grenade, it would probably take 2 to take out 1 fully armored Knight with a shield.

Doesn't a Knight have 3 layers of armor? Leather + Chainmail + Metal Body Armor.

Le Mediocrity. It's fun when we win, and funny when we lose!

But what if the hurricaine's name was Hurricaine Ditka?

no I think they could still take them...most knights were trained yes, but nobles, undoubtly not battle hardened, those that were, well I doubt they had as much training as the spartans, samurai would be like a grunt acting like an elite and would probably get a few lucky kills here and there but would be wayyyy too week and too slow...the romans would be slaughtered because I take it you're talking about the regular infantry, which are just usually conscripted soldiers and would get their asses handed to them on a -blam!- silver platter

No I'm talking about the ruthless murderous Knights that are battle-hardned to the core and masterminds of combat.
The Samurai that from birth was trained in the art of combat, battle tactics, and martial arts. The Romans who once ruled the world who were nearly invincible in every combat engagement, the ones who defeated everyone in their path to power.

No they would get slaughtered.

Not necessarily.

It depends on the conditions, where the Spartans are, where the others are.

You seem to know your history as well as I do. Now let's give the spartans swords and spears. No guns or nades. Stupid feudal system, fiefdoms are for kids. Oh and DukeNukemForever, remember Hannibal? He kicked Roman ass.

You left out the only thing that's better than a spartan. A ninja. 12 ninjas against any number of spartans would be more than enough to get the job done.

however you did list samurai, but... they just aren't equipped for this kind of situation. But as for your given scenario, it's clear that those troops wouldn't touch a single spartan, through the rain of bullets and nades, it would be very difficult to get close enough to ineffectively thrash at an energy shield and nearly indestructible mjolnir plating.

Someone said that it would take 1-2 grenades to kill a knight. Now the only reason the spartans in MP take about 2 is because of your energy shield . The actual armor of the spartans could arguably be as strong as the Knights, and we all know that a well placed grenade with no shields = insta-death...

The battle on a whole? It would be a slaughter. Think about it. Spartans are amazingly accurate due to their enhancements of eyesight, reflexes, etc. All of the soldiers in the other army(s) that were mentioned had absolutely nothing that could protect their heads from bullets. The Spartans would cap them, and it would be a massacre. If any soldiers did make it to the spartan group, what the hell is a sword or spear gonna do against armour AND shields? The spartans have super strength to boot...its just...its just...oh you get the point. Its WAY too one-sided to to be considered a real battle.

The Roman Legionarries would win out of the Knights and Samurai, but the Spartans would still win due to their armor. This is a stupid topic. It's obvious.

Even if the Spartans ran out of power for the Plasma Swords, they can still melee. John killed an ODST with a single punch, without his armour.

This leads me to believe that if the Spartans were wearing armour, they could still deal crippling blows to a fully armoured Knight. Not to mention being much faster than the enemy. In full plate-mail, knights could move at a snail's pace, whilst Spartans can run extremely fast in their armour. Not to mention weighing two tons each. The momentum they have while running could allow them to run through the enemies lines.

If you want a fair fight, I'd say 10 Spartans. Even then, I think the Spartans would be invincible.

Wouldn't work. When the SPartans tried to reload their guns, the 2000 soldiers would surround them. Plus even spartans get tired.

  • 02.04.2005 6:45 AM PDT

What ancient soldier would actually fight them? Once they saw a couple hundred of their friends die, they'd flee from the battle.

Also, relatively speaking, a 2000 man army isn't that large. You'd need something bigger to kill the Spartans.

the SPARTAN's would get whooped, like in real life. Bow's and arrows from afar would bring them down.
