I think they should have custom soundtracks on Halo 2. I've tried it on Project Gotham Racing 2, and it's cool. Imagine...in a dropship, then pounding grunts with the BR while banging your head to the opening licks of "School of Hard Knocks" by P.O.D. Bliss...

Also, I think Halo 2 should have a racing level...It was fun on Halo when you had to get out of the PoA cause you didn't worry about bad guys. I think they should have a part on H2 when you are in a race against an elite so you lead him into a camp and bet with Cortana on who can squish the most grunts...

i really hope they implement custom soundtracks.. that'd be awesome.. i can see why many wouldn't want them, but we ALWAYS play with stereo's blasting In Flames or Children of Bodom or other heavy stuff.

I think they should be implemented to an extent, but only for MP. The music in Halo is too good and so well paced and timed that it flows with the game perfectly. It was one of my favorite things about Halo actually. You shouldnt lose that intensity and anxiety you get through the music in Campaign mode, and they put too much work into it to have it switched to whatever ya want. That being said...Driving a horde of your buds in a warthog with Tool blaring on the stereo, spreading fear into your opponents as the proximity sound system let's them hear it when you get close would be an amazing thing :)

hah.. i didn't even think about the proximity thing. that'd be crazy, if you could use the warthog as a radio, like GTA or something. it reminds me of RvB when they get in the warthog and it starts playing polka music.

i think that is should only be custom soundtracks after you beat the game or in multi player mode because then you would be able to hear what type of music this one is and how it sounds with its own music fist before you play your own.

I like that idea alot. You can only implement custom music after youve beaten the game, cus the music adds something to the gameplay. So after youve beaten the game, you can change the music however you want. I like the idea of having the music in the warthog, but I also like having the music while Im on foot shooting the hell out of some covie buggers. Also, everyone talks about the music being so great. I think the musics good, but after the 100th time of playing campaign, you get tired of hearin the stuff. Besides, Martin O'Donnell is no John Williams.

Here's an easy solution for custom soundtracks in multiplayer: get a CD player, and turn it on. Or, if you want a continuous playlist, you could hook up some speakers to a computer or an iPod or something.

having the sound itself is not the point..

KNOWING that the GAME has CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS is the point..

it's all about the principal of the matter, here. :]

But NO custom soundtracks in SP. Marty's music was one of the greatest things in Halo. it just gave the game more "feeling". Take the creepy music from level 6 for instance. And the music from halo 2 will be just as great. Just listen to the music in the E3 2003 demo. It just fits in the entire situation.

Sound is a huge part to telling a story, and giving a situation that suspense and emotion. Having that wrecked by some idiots personal music instead of the music designed for that scene goes against the telling of the entire story. It shouldnt be in single player no matter what. As said above if you don't like it, listen to a cd. Multiplayer there could be a use for it, but really its not really necessary when you're more listening out for a tactically edge from where those footsteps are coming from.

I like the idea of custon soundtracks only in MP for Halo 2, but it could make it far easier for a person to sneak up on you if you've got your music playing. Could be a way for the experienced people to handicap themselves.

Better yet. If you host a game then you COULD have an option to host a custom soundtrack, which is an option for players to listen too. That would be cool.

Wouldnt work, that takes a huge amount of bandwidth to get all the players to download your music to there machines (each track is about 4MB say, put in 4-5 tracks and you've got only a 128-256Kbps upload...its going to take ages and players won't wait half an hour+ to start a game while they get music off you so they can play)...also brings in alot of legal problems also for distribution of music etc. If it was streaming it would generate so much lag it wouldnt work either.

Streaming doesn't generate that much lag.. perhaps on a System Link game this would work. maybe not over XBox Live. people would be playing stupid songs.. like.. rap, or something.. yuck.

I think it should be only in MP. And it should blend itself with the other sounds so that it remains balanced. I personally don't like listening to a Led Zeppelin solo while putting my reticule on your head.

Yeah, I think it should be one of those MP things. I wanna listen to Halo 2 music during gameplay. It would break the mood if you were listening to out-of-place music. Definitely Muliplayer, cuz it seems more.....natural to do so.

If they had custom soundtracks, how would they know when to play each song? It could totaly ruin the atmosphere of the game to play a heavy rock song during, say, a stealth part of the game.

Just Custom Soundtracks in Multiplayer. If we had it in Single Player, then Marty would be out of a job...and that would be bad.
