Can Halo 1 be played on XBOX Live or not? I just bought the starter kit in hopes of spending a good chunk of my summer meleeing unsuspecting enemy spartans, but the official xbox live game list includes only halo 2, which isnt even out...

If I can't play halo on Live, I'm taking it back (Live that is), because halo is the ONLY reason I even bought an XBOX. I have Mechassault too, but it's a disgrace to the Mechwarrior name and I'd have taken that back too, if I hadn't lost the receipt.

You need to download Gamespy Arcade and Gamespy Tunnel to play Halo online. I haven't figured out how to make it work though.

There is still a lot of excellent Xbox Live games out their. Try renting a few before your return XBL. Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, Rainbow Six 3, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and on top of those Halo 2 is coming soon, and you'll probably end up buying Live again when H2 is released.

if your talking about Xbox Connect as the tunnel software, then yes, you can take halo online. its just really laggy and has no voice compaibility (least, i don't think i does...)

i wouldn't reccomend it. its $20, and its really laggy, like i said. just wait for Halo 2, adn every thign wil lbe OK.

now, to find a cord long enough to reach 2 stories down fr om my room into my basement where my xbox is so i can get back to blowing stuff up on Live with mechassault or dancing with DDR.

Um, Xboxconnect is free, only XBC pro cost money, and all that gives you is a few new features.

Also, XBCONNECT is much less laggy especially on slower comps because you arent getting all of these stupid animated ads. I remeber the horror when half the time my old comp would freeze up cause of the stupid ads. XBCONNECT however, is dedicated to xbox, you can lock people out and lock the game, there is voice i just dont know how to use it (see instead u get TEAMSPEAK) and on and on it goes. Definitly get XBOXCONNECT to play online. Let the fragging begin!

Nope, not for the original Halo. I can't get Live anyway because of where I live, but oh well. While you wait for Halo 2, don't take back XBox Live, get Pandora Tomorrow or something. That game is probably my favorite multiplayer game at the moment along with Halo. My friend has Live and he let me try out Pandora, and it's a really awesome experience. The LAN play is great too, i've been to three LAN parties with the same people, just playing Splinter Cell. It comes highly recommended from me and probably others too.
