After seeing that rockets could now lock on to targets, such as a warthog driving by, I was wondering if this was the right thing to do in game development. Sure its a sweet feature, but when someones getting away in a warthog you have to have a little bit of skill to stop him with a rocket launcher, which makes it fun. But now all you have to do is put your aimer on the vehicle and pul the trigger and that guy is basically screwed...

P.S. The guy is not screwed, its called turning.

Hopefully it will have a very high turning radius, so that skilled drivers can evade the rocket. It should also have a maximum distance for acquiring a lock. In all honesty I'd really prefer the rocket were laser guided like in half-life.

1st of all it needs about 3-4 rockets to destroy warthog (I don't know but more then 1)

2nd what about banshees they were overpowered so tracking rockets take care of them :)

3rd u can dodge em.

4th U can't lock on human

So for me the rocket is well
I hope covies have 1 too

I think it balances it out with the instant kill plasma sword. But, if there was no sword, I don't think it should be in, if there was no sword. Everything needs to be balanced out.

Actually, I read somewhere on bugie or some other credilble source where someone (journalist from IGN I believe in their impressions section) had played the demo at E3 and they said it's not like you think. Believe me I was worried of the same thing b/c I love the rocket launcher and am very skilled with it and I would be very upset if you didn't have to have any skill to use it.

You can still shoot straight by leading them and not locking which is best and will kill them. The said when you lock on the shot sometimes wouldn't kill them. Also, the lock wouldn't always hit the hog either.

Guess is that from all of the readings they are tuning the balance of the game using the lock on as a tool to bridge the gap between elites and noobs. I say this because now it is harder to kill or tip the hog over w/ grenades and it is easier for noobs to kill or tip the hog w/ a rocket at close range.

I suspect the elites will still lead a straight shot for the kill and noobs will use the target tracking to tip the hog.

Read the impressions article and you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps!!

Bungie knows what they are doing and I believe everyone will soon see that these changes will have an impact but only in a way that enhances the game and its balance, not in a bad or overpowering way like you may think.

At least I hope this is the case. Have faith in Bungie, relax and wait.

Now that when sommeone hits the vehicle the person doesnt take damage only the vehicle, It is a lot more balanced than you think. It takes like 3, 4 rockets to kill the guy unless they hit HIM in the vehicle. In halo 1 when you shot the vehicle in the tire, the driver and gunner still take damage. IN halo 2 they hubcap just falls off

The plasma sword is not a lock on, it is only when u preform the lunge attack (one-hit kill move). The plasma sword is a regular melee weapon that it takes to reg. melees to kill unless u perform the lunge attack.

As for the rocket launcher being homing, well u can still dodge the rocket im sure, especially from a distance. The rockets will be homing, but im sure if u time it right u can jump over it considering chief jumps 2 or 3 times higher in Halo 2.
And if ur in a vehicle u can surely out run or shake out a rocket , as slow as they go.

thats cute and everything but bungie doesnt need to be helping dead beats who didnt play the original, and picked up halo 2 because its the next big thing. they deserve to have their ass handed to them, and i dont need my game thrown off balance on their account. [not blasting you, just the idea in general]

also people say, "oh the secondary function wont kill the driver on impact, it will just flip the hog, and it takes up ot 3-4 secondary fire rockets to destroy the hog." well so what, just being able to flip the hog is a huge advantange. i flip a warthog full of guys by leading it with a frag, and even doing just that, i can kill every guy in the hog once they are on their feet, because it can be very disorienting to be flipped. new players do not have the right to flip a hog so easily.

You forget that the plasma sword secondary attack holds it there for like 3 seconds after you pull the right trigger and you can't throw grenades, so for three seconds you're COMPLETELY helpless. So that'll balance it out. AHAHAHUAHhAhahaHAHAHAHhAhA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, they don't. I was messing around once and trying to see how fast it moved. Those rockets are darned slow!
