It somewhat depends more on the best card for your computer. I have an Athlon 64 3000+ and a Radeon X1300 and Halo 2 runs great but I had to tweak my whole computer before I got any kind of performance. I would recommend an ATI card by your processor, but what works on one system may not on another. Its relativity.

I GOT PEOPLE ON MY SIDE

8400GS, costs only $50. Not the best, but with your processor you could do some stuff with Halo 2

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

You can get a Radeon 3850 with 512MB of VRAM on Newegg.com for $110 after rebate.

I have the 256MB version of that and it runs any game like a charm!

If he actually has a 939 or AM2 board that supports AGP then he would know since he would have gotten it on purpose and know a few things about upgrading.

(Bungie > 343i)

If you have no price range I would get an 8800gt or the 3850 x2, but if its price your worried about then I agree with LOPOLO. ( i have the 3850 x2 I can run it maxed out at 1600x1200 )

Cool board. You probably want to go with some kind of GeForce (seeing as you already have one). GeForce 8600 GTS looks good, but its around $100.

1 PCI-E x16, memory clock speed is 133, and it can handle 4 gigs.

Check out my Gaming Rig on EVGA Mod Rigs.

I run a G80 8800GTS 320MB and Its great, newegg.com has it for 114 after rebate, but If you really want a "good" card, you should probably spend more and get a newer GPU like the G92 NVidia cards..

Much too expensive for the performance, look for an 8800 GS for 10 bucks more.

The one I posted. If you look at the actual power usage of the 8800 GS it's very close to the 8600 GTS.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GeForce_8800_GS/21.ht ml

If your system cant run the 8800 GS I doubt it will handle the 8600. In either case since your PSU is crap and I don't know why you wont shoot for a new one get the 8800 since it really doesnt draw that much power anyways. And the link I posted is full system consumption for the system listed. You should be fine.

Then just buy the 8800 gt now because going from a GS to a GT really isn't worth it.

aka lino4

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

The 9600GT has the best price to performance ratio right now. It can perform up to an 8800GT (depends on the game) for less money.

The 9600 can "perform up to an 8800 gt" the same way an 8800 gt could "perform up to an 9800 gtx or 8800 gtx" sorry but in every instance the 9600 is slower.
