So, who listens to music while playing multiplayer on HALO? Or single player for that matter? If you do, what kind do you listen to?

I like to listen to soft jazz or classical music when playing against people on multiplayer because it makes them nervous. I'm just sitting there, all calm and disconnected (sometimes glazed over not even paying attention to the game) killing everything that moves. They don't seem to like it.

When I play with my best friend, we pop in the "HALO Mix of Death" CD I made that has all hard rock, heavy metal, and just hard core songs on it. Stuff like Metallica, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, etc. It just puts us in the killing mood. And sometimes, we'll just mute the TV and play the CD while playing campaign. Mmm. . .good times. Too bad he lives in Minnesota and I live in TEXAS! So, summertime sucks because no huge HALO stuff. *whimper* *sob*

Its all about the ambience of ambient soudeffects. Go Marty! Who'd want to muddle and cover up all the work he and jay put into the game? ;)

Now of course music i listen to, say, when playing Marathon MP would defintely be Power of Seven's Oni soundtrack (with help from Marty), Matrix soundtrack, and other great techno/heavy metal that goes well with sci-fi kicking a$$. But again, I like being able to hear my heart pound and my palms sweat. And my adversaries cry in pain. And the soft rustle of the wind as i straddle a pile of corpses in koth as the only remaining victor. Ahhhhh, the sweet smell of victory.

Aaw. Man, you guys aren't that fun. I only listen to death and destruction when I play serious opponents. But, when it comes to the peeons that come up to me and say, "All three of us will take you on," I put on the intimidating music, relax, and zone out.

I usually don't listen to music when playing Halo or Oni, cos they have their own music, and my friends probably wouldn't appreciate me playing my sort of music during multiplayer. But in Marathon, I plug my headphones in and play Beethoven over the top of the ambient sounds. I get flashbacks to "My Own Private Thermopylae" when I hear the 7th Symphony - yes I am pathetic.

Nah, I like listening to Mr. B's 7th when I'm playing some games too. A lot of instrumental can get you more psyched than hard rock.

I would listen to some fast-paced metal, something that is GOOD, not popular labels found everywhere... but I like being able to hear the gunshots and the footsteps clearly so I can get some feeling for if I'm being snuck up on from behind. or if someone's just spawned near me.
