Alright. Let's hope I can get some help here:

My XBox won't turn on. Period. At all. The cord is fine, the electricity still runs to my house, the outlet is fine... why won't the Box turn on?

I'd call 1 800 4MY BOX, but... I got the XBox back in December 2001, so the warranty has run out. If I were to call, they'd tell me to send it down for mantinence, but I'd have to pay for any repair they do wouldn't I?

And just to add to the level of problemicity: My Halo 2 disc is inside the XBox, and seeings as how I can't get the Box to turn on, there is no way to get the disc out... If MS were to tell me to mail it down for repair, and they send me back a new XBox (I've heard people who just get a new Box instead of having there old one fixed)... would I get my Halo 2 disc back?

I figure I'd ask here before I bother calling MS and getting the run around...

Any suggestions?

simple. smash the xbox to pieces, get the disc out, then send it for repairs.

You should try another power outlet. If you have, then I suggest you phone them and tell them them your situation including the disc thing.

That... would suceed in fixing my dilema with the disk... but sadly would only increase the repiar problems.

Oh... just for the heck of it... I might as well mention that I've paid 50 $ to participate in an upcoming competition LAN, and it is required you bring your own Box. I between a rock and... cliche's can go to hell.

Yeah... I have. But if I call them and they ask to send it down for repair... would I have to pay. The 2 year warranty I paid 45 dollars for expired.... 2 years ago.

Do you know what the hours are for customer service at 4MY-XBOX?

Edit: Double Post... shame on me.

just do this, open up your broken xbox and force that disc out. then go buy a new xbox, so if that one fails on you too, alteast you have the warranty to cover you.

149 bucks is a chunk of change for a 17 year old who is legally permitted to work only 20 hours a week @ 6.25$. I've still gotta pay for gas with that money. It'd be a good month before I could get a new Box.

I could -blam!- Microsoft's face off... but I don't think that'd get me anywhere.

My personal experience with microsoft costumer support is not pleasant at all. I sent my xbox in 3 times and they renewed the DVD drive but it still made scratches so now I live with it.

Before your xbox shut down for good, did you leave the Halo 2 disc inside after turning it off or did it suddenly turn off?

couldn't you borrow a friend's xbox?

It suddenly shut off while I was playing, trapping the disc inside... but why would that matter?

And... what did it cost you when you sent in yourXBox?

Most of my friends with an xbox are going to the competition. If they weren't, I would.

Life, such a beutiful thing.

Edit: DP again, Hoo-Rah!?!

It didn't cost me anything and I did not pay for extra warranty. They gave me a year coverage because my xbox was refurbished.

And it does matter if you leave your disc inside the xbox after you turn it off.

So it doesn't cost anything... but I still don't feel like dealing with the condesending douche bags that are MS Customer Support.

Anyways... what's the deal with leaving the disc in the box? I don't, but that's just because friends are tards and tend to just take them out and leave them lying on the coffee table (where the end up being coasters) if they're left in.

It says in the xbox manual hanbook thing not to leave the disc in the console.

The forums are so lazy except for this thread. :|

Ask them how much it would cost and then, if it's not worth it, smash your Xbox, get Halo 2 and then buy a new Xbox. I don't know how much it would cost or when the line is "open".

Yeah, I suppose if shipping & handling and repairs are going to cost more then just driving 20 miles to Gamestop, then smashing is the way to go.

Edit:... Freaking double posts. Like a black pock on my gleaming forum history [/sarcasm]

That or they don't want people getting in a tizzy when the XBox locks a disc inside. Example: Me.

Edit: Hours for phone support: 9am to 1am (EST)... everday.
How handy... I'm either at school during those hours during the weekday, or sleeping those hours away on the weekend.

Yeah, I'll call MS tommorrow.

Thanks for the help.
