The most hopeless moment in Halo was the subchapter in the "Two Betrayals" called "Final Run". It was a mix of flood and elites, and maybe some jackals. The flood was armed with rocket launchers, the elites invisible, and the worse of all was two things...first it was dark...and second...there was a huge front guarding my prize, a Banshee. This however wasn't a normal front. It consisted of; two Shade turrets, about 12-13 Covenant soldiers, two Hunters, two Wraith tanks, and more stealth Elites "the invisible kind". And the thing that made it so difficult was that the Covenant took flanking positions on both sides. To my left and right, behind trees and rocks. Their plan was perfect...all they needed to do was survive, and make sure I didn't...that didn't happen.

First I grabbed the sniper rifle after I saw what I was up against. The Shades would cut me down before I thought to even reach the rocks, to take out the enemies preping to flank me. I shot the grunts right out of the seats of both Shades. Then I started to pepper their front line with fire. I took a elite from this realm, but the rest of the oppoisistion got jumpy...and the Wraiths broke position! I ran back to the "ammo cache" as I call it and grabbed the rocket launcher. I ran back and found a ghost...that was inhabited. So I pulled out my plasma rifle and opened fire. After about 44 seconds of fighting, the elite screamed as the last bolt popped his ass right out the seat. I hopped on and got a way to get to and fro from my "ammo cache". In the middle of the bootleg forest (because it was onlt about 15 trees) I droppped out my ghost so the enemy couldn't claim my ride. Then I locked on to the wraith on my right, and just before I was about to fire... the right flank (which by the way, consisted of mostly Jackals) opened fire. Plasma splashed acrossed my chest, but I was determined to survive! My shield was at quarter power and I got p-o'd. So I shot that s.o.b. in the freakin' chest, with my plasma rifle! Then I let the rest of the mindless fodder eat blue liquid...from a plasma grenade! That left one unlucky jackal, as I brought my Plasma Rifle down across his ugly face! The I popped out of hiding...only to be greeted by a plasma motar blast 9 meters in front of me! Then I knew that the next explosion wouldn't miss. So I switched to my spankr and fired on the wraith that was now 15 meters in front of me! My shield was busy recharging when the shot found it's mark. Before the first shot hit, the second was well on its way to the wraith that was oringinally on my left. It missed, 'cause I was too far away. The Hunters were now playin' offence, charging with fuel rods blazing, charging to fire. I noticed and I ran back...wraith inflicted craters behind me lookin' for a target. I hopped on my ghost and went back to my "ammo cache". I swapped my plasma rifle for a pistol and grabbed some more ammo for rocket launcher. Then I went back to the front lines, this time dropping the ghost within skipping distance but behind some trees. Then the front lines got a 12.5 mm suprise when I unleashed my pistol. I killed nearly all the opposistion leaving Hunters and wraiths. The wraiths got 40mm TLC, and I jumped on the shade on my left and rained hell on the Hunters. It wasn't long before I saw a green blast come out of nowhere, then I hopped of the shade, and ran for my ghost. The ghost made quick work of them and left orange juice all over the snow. Then I hopped on my now free Banshee and went on to complete the mission.

Very nice, very detailed, very emotional. I found myself in that same predicament. In short, the way I handled it was, I didn't. I died. but then I was back, and since it is getting late I won't type out how I did it, but let's just say that it involved lots of sniping and explosions.
