Homelan Admins have no longer been employed by Bungie to moderate the official Bungie servers. If you play on these servers you probably have encountered a few repeat intentional team killers (tkers). A few that come to mind are tker's named "ME" and "Mr Roboto". Usually a tker kills 4-5 team members then is automatically kicked and banned from the server. Tkers have learned that quiting after the third tk and rejoining by direct IP makes it so they can continue to tk over and over. If you have ever experienced an intentional repeat team killer that has no remorse and continues to teamkill over and over using the quit and rejoin by ip method to avoid getting banned, please write thier name here. If you have edited your .EXE file to allow console, please get thier IP and put it here. Just maybe someone in Bungie can see it and Perma-Ban them from ever playing on the great ping and good gameplay usually found on the official Bungie servers.

My solution: play somewhere else (i.e. a server with admins). Or if you want you can trick them into TKing you and get them banned. Dive in front of their vehicles, or get them to shoot you a few times, and then blow yourself up with a grenade (it will count as a betrayal against them).

Should'nt servers operated by the games developers be moderated with admins? I play exclusively on Bungies' servers because they have great ping and solid server traffic (always full). To play on anyone elses servers would just be a waste of my time. Unless gearbox has a server. I believe that something should be done about the rampant tkers and people that do and say VERY bad things on the Bungie servers.

Gearbox has a server, but it runs HaloCE (not HaloPC). So it won't show up if you're still using HaloPC. The name is "! Gearbox Server www.gearboxsoftware.com" We don't have many problems with a-holes, but most of the time during prime playing hours, there's a moderator (me, gowman, or someone else) to whip out the Almighty Ban Stick of Doom.

I used to play on the Bungie servers a lot and I was really pumped when I found out they were using HomeLAN admins. But then I never once (not one single time) saw an admin on any of the Bungie servers. And whenever I tried to go to anytimeadmin.com and get an admin to come ban the troublemakers, I got zero response. I'd sit there and wait for 20 minutes for a response. Meanwhile, the teamkiller has quit and moved on. It was a good idea, but practically speaking it did nothing to stop the problem.

Jerks are just always going to be a problem in a server without active admins. They do it because they can. It's extremely annoying and pretty much ruins everyone else's game. Without an admin, there's just nothing you can do besides tricking them into getting themselves auto-banned. It sucks.

un fortunately people like "his sister" and "ME=KING" and "mr roboto" are too smart to get auto-banned, it actually seems to be the only thing they are good at, as they cannot even kill thier own team with any kind of skill. This topic is a call out to Bungie to implement some kind of admin or moderation that keeps these repeat offenders away from the tranquility of the Bungie servers. Does Bungie want thier servers to be represented by a bunch of loud, offensive, and team killing players that ruin a perfectly good Halo PC match. Personally if I had developed a game and had public servers for it; I would want to be an example for all servers. Admin need to be re-implemented on Bungie servers, its a fact that cant be denied.
If Homelan wasnt doing the job right then maybe there could be some other type of arrangement made to get moderators back onto Bungie servers, and to get the offenders permanently away through banning.

1) Halo bans by CD-Key, so knowing their IP won't help.

2) You can't get ther IP. The only IP you can get is the server's.

Maybe a voting system. The team being affected can vote (probably shouldn't be unanimous since the TKer may have a buddy in the game...so a majority vote is probably called for) to have a teammate booted. This would help alleviate the TK problem.

They seem to disconnect before being autobanned... only to reconnect seconds later. HE HATE ME and BFG6800 seem to make it a full time job tking people which sucks because all I want to do is play the game. The voting system doesnt work because the tk'er will join a server and start calling vote's on other people constantly. Maybe take off the autoban feature and let us kill them back? Now they can kill you reconnect but if you try tking them back you get banned. It would be much less fun for them if they got killed in return and had to wait for the spawn timer.

I'm certifiable.

The best way I've found to handle multiple TKers is to play on servers with very high Betrayal penalties. Griefers aren't necessarily the most patient entities, so having them wait for 20-30 seconds between respawns might encourage them to go play elsewhere.

When I note a griefing TKer, I make it a special job to give a running commentary through world chat (the "t" key) as to where the son-of-a-BoB is so that the other team can merrily pick him off. Combined with long respawn times, that weeds out most of them.

Taking off the autoban will only reward the dumb TKers; it won't affect the smart ones (who like the attention, because their Moms are busy with whatever barnyard animals sired them and aren't tending to their "needs") and it makes it tougher on the decent, upstanding players who are just trying to capture the flag and have fun.

A suggestion to Bungie, or anyone running a server; crank up the TK penalties. Yeah, it sucks when you accidentally plough into your buddies and then get killed by the vehicle you crashed, but it really puts the hurt on griefing TKers.

-- Steve really doesn't like TKers, as you may have guessed.

[EDIT: fixed minor grammatical error that bugged the heck out of me in the 2nd last paragraph.]

Yeah, 99% of the time, the #$(%* team killers are the ones with almost no skill who can't compete by playing normally. I freaking hate them. Why the hell would they spend $40-50 on a game just to go ruin it for as many people as they can?! WTF is wrong with these people?

Ok, I'm going to stop my rant before I get really pissed off and break something...

If they take off the auto-ban penalty (so people can retaliate), then it will just make it worse. Does anyone remember the days before the 1.03 patch put in the auto-ban TK system? These -blam!-ing people would join games and TK everyone for hours at a time, and there was nothing to get rid of them.

And like someone said, a vote system wouldn't be the perfect solution either. The griefers would just constantly start votes against everyone in the server to try and get legitimate players banned.

I haven't played on the Bungie servers in a while, but if the problem is really bad Bungie should turn off friendly fire on their servers. That eliminates most of the problem right there. I'm sure people will still find away to be -blam!-holes, but at least then they couldn't kill teammates the whole time.

I really don't understand why they don't have friendly fire off anyhow. I would've eliminated the problem I had, when my bro went on A TKing spree one night. He got me banned from at least 8 servers that I've found. It really sucks when like Elmo said, people go out and spend the money on the game, but aren't mature enough to play it with respect for the other players.

Anything would be better than the present situation of rampant tkers on Bungie servers. Voting would just give the less mature another outlet for annoyance. While playing last night I came up with the idea of "punish or forgive". This is somthing I ran across as a CS player; When a Tker kills someone the server gives them a choice to either "punish" (which could entail slaying, time out penalties, kicking, or eventual banning), or to "forgive" the tk and allow no penalties to be applied to the tker. With both this and the auto-ban feature implemented I believe this could stop rampant TKing in its tracks. Giving the tker no option but to face the wrath of the person that they just foolishly team killed. If the tker continues to TK then the penalties for being "punished" would grow more serious (i.e start with time-out penalties, then slay, then kick, then kick and ban) all the time getting warned that if they continue to behave badly they are facing harsher punishment. Also not resetting thier punishment record for 15-30 minutes regardless if they quit and rejoin will prevent them from doing the old "quit and rejoin by IP" to avoid harsh punishment from the people they are repeat TKing

Yeah, ME has moved onto other names such ME IS THE KING and -blam!- like that. Theres nothing you can really do except give them betrayals and hope they cant count. My name on Halo pc is [BoG] Aidan, if you see me give me a shout.

for some reason the Me=king person is always on bungie servers, and always tking. I wish someone from bungie would play on thier servers one day and have to experience his idiocy and get him banned permanently. Anyone like my idea of "Punish or Forgive"??

Yeah, actually. It wouldn't interrupt gameplay, as it'd only show while waiting for respawn (it'd have to lapse upon respawn), and it gives you a chance to let the real accidents slide.

Something to consider for the next build, should there be one.

Thanks Steve, and I must ask all that replied to this topic go to the Gearbox Forums and post in the "off-topic" section , as someone has taken it upon themselves to link this topic there. I think that if enough people make enough noise about this problem; some thing will be done. At least I hope so.

Hey maybe TKers are confused on how to play the game. Did anyone explain to them GREEN ARROWS MEAN ALLIED. One more thing. Trick them to TK you. Like somebody said earlier.

unfortunately the "green arrows" make it easier for the tker to find his teammates and kill them. Maybe the fact that there are only 2 colors of armor, maybe they only play slayer and dont understand that you dont kill your own team in CTF, maybe they are TKing "-blam-tards" with nothing else better to do than be immature. The more knowledgable tkers count thier TK's and ussually rejoin the server by direct IP to continue thier TKing spree.

Did you forget your ritalin this morning, or was it your zoloft?? You are so un-intelligent you would have a hard time telling the difference between your -blam!- and a hole in the ground. Have fun being a loser.

I have been playing Halo for awhile now and there are a couple things I hate: 1) Tkers and 2) Tkers who talk $%*&. It really annoys me, especially when I try to play the game as a team player (ignoring the Tkers which is almost impossible to do) and they betray their teammates and me unrelentingly! And what really disturbs me is when I have the flag which can be hard to get at times, and the Tkers decides to take the flag and take the credit.....thats bull $%*&! Yes, I do believe something should be done to people who Tk. Tkers such as: ME, ME=King, his sister, His Sister, Zepplin12, Mr. Roboto, and many others I have unfortunate encounters with need to be banned. I don't know what sort a solution should be done, but Moriarity's idea seems splendid to me! To have such an opition to "Punish" or "Forgive" a team member who has accidently killed you (which I have done, but said sorry as quick as I could) or those who intentionally kill you (no remorse, never say sorry, and talks $%*&) haveing the choice to "Punish" them and/or to "Forgive" them can be a possible solution to the Tking $%-*&heads out there. So, lets say the first kill, they wait one minute to respawn (unless Forgiven); second kill, two minutes; third kill, three minutes; fourth kill, four minutes; and the fifth kill they are slayed/ banned for twenty-four hours. Also, the Tkers will not be able to "Click off" and "Rejoin" without the Bungie Server remembering (storing) the Tkers ID number. This solution should work for all official Bungie servers, so the Tkers are done for the day and/or night for their twenty-four hour punishment. Maybe this solution will make the Tkers play the game right and make those who are team players enjoy their time playing Halo multiplayer.

It seems that Bungie stopped having Homelan moderate thier servers about 2-3 months ago. Quite an un-fortunate sequence of events, as when the TKers found out they wouldnt be banned, they started to plauge the Bungie servers.

Yuck, I've been auto-banned so many times, usualy for sacking TKers, and sometimes for simple accidents. I *hate* the auto-ban.
And I don't see why voting wouldn't work... Sure, TKers'll start a vote to kick somone, but who would vote 'yes'? Then you vote to kick the TKer, that your team surely will vote for.
Though the punish/forgive system woule be great, minus the few times the victim is an unforgiving moron...
