Subject: How did Johnson survive?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

I have noticed this lately, we all know Halo: CE's Legendary Ending right? Well when Johnson and the Elite are fighting over the assault rifle and then Johnson notices The Maw is blowing up and says, "Hug me Brother". When the screen goes white and changes to the Cheif taking his helmit off (which we don't see) Once the game ended I poped in Halo 2. And after traing and you get on the elevator you can hear the person that is training you-say "So Johnson, when are you going to tell me how you survived?" Then Johnson says "Sorry Hunz(?) classified." My question is, how did Johnson survive? Anyone have any ideas? So if he apperently "Died" in Halo: CE how is he here in Halo 2 and 3? I know that it's a game and the developers do what they want becuase not many people actually pay attention. These are just my oppinions.

Well, with all due respect, I don't think Bungie really gave any thought when they made that special Legendary ending. It's entertaining, don't get me wrong, but as far as "did it really happen?" The answer is no. If you want to find out what really happened to Johnson you'll have to check out Halo: First Strike (Amazon link). I don't remember if it says exactly how he got off, it's been a while since I've read it.

Anyway, that Legendary ending was just for fun.

Well of course the Legendary Ending was just for fun but when Bungie does something like that they have to ATLEAST throw us a bone of some sort.
Thanks for the link.

98% of teenagers surround their minds with rap music, if you're part of the 2% that stayed with rock, put this in your signature.

Read the -blam!- books (first strike is the one you want)

I always offer fair game and usually allow some "extermination" of my teammates. I think that anyone should be able to play Halo or any other game they please.

How come in Contact Harvest, the battle rifle is there but it takes place before Halo 2? Oh, and read the book. It talks about Johnson before the Halos.

*SPOILER*

Johnson escaped in a Pelican witha pilot, Marine, and ONI spook. He has a disease from too much plasma exposure that it scrambled his neural pathways(or something like that), preventing being victimized by the Flood.

And the Battle Rifle is in its experimental stage in Contact: Harvest.

Yes, his disease alters his DNA causing the Flood to not be able to take over his body which keeps him from being infected.

im 90% certain that bungie has said the legendary ending wasnt canon. it was just a fun thing they threw in.

  • 05.06.2008 5:04 AM PDT

i read somewhere that bungie just ''resurrected'' the sarge because it was too soon for him to die. plus they probably wanted the one-liners from the sarge.

Just message me on live.

The legendary ending was just an egg.

TEZLA { @N$3CT } JIRQUAN!

The legendary ending is just a joke or whatever. Because on the first flood level where the Master Chief is watching one of the dead marines helmet cam video it shows Sgt. Johnson and a bunch of other marines getting attacked by the flood and apparently all of them are dead. After this scene in the game we do not see Johnson in any "true" scene that is not a hoax (like the legendary ending). He is not seen again until Halo 2, in the video games that is.
In the book [i] Halo: First Strike [/], the Master Chief and Cortana (after destroying Halo) are in space and they stumble upon Sgt. Johnson and a few other marines in a nearly-destroyed pelican. The Chief lets them and Johnson tells them their story. The Chief is skeptical and asks Johnson how he survived when the chief saw him killed by the flood on the video. Johnson says something like "Guess they did'nt like me." or "Class ??? marine issue combat armour stopped em I guess." I can't remember which because it has been awhile since I read the book but I am pretty sure its like the first thing I claimed he says. Well, thats the true story of how Sgt. Avery Johnson apparently "dies" and survived. Obviously he survived.

It's simple; he shot the Elite when it was busy watching the Pillar of Autumn go up in flames and rode its dead carcus like a saddle on the explosion, thus launching him clear back to Earth.

Bungie threw in the Lengedary ending just for fun, and they had no idea Halo was going to be that popular and that they were going to make a second and a third.
