When we have dual weapons, people are wondering how we might switch from two weapons to one and then throw a grenade. Well, I was thinking, it can be the back button. Then we would have one gun, and have the black button to switch between grenades. Here is an example: You have two SMG's out. You see a group of grunts, and want to save ammo. You hit the back button, and you place one SMG down. You then have one out, and then you can use the "Y" button to switch to your second weapon (for example, a pistol). Or if you want both SMG's out, have one SMG out, and hit the back button to get the other one out. But once you have one weapon out, you can hit the black button to switch grenades, and use the "L" trigger to throw the grenade. But using two weapons, obviously both triggers would be firing the left weapon and right weapon. What do you guys think?

It wouldn't work because in multiplayer games the back button is used for the score.

Actually I was thinking that they could use the Left and Right on the D-pad for which weapon they want to throw away/bring up. Also using a combo of those directions and X might also allow us to pick up/trade for a new dual weapon.

Yeah, Hikaru is right. The D-Pad isn't for anything in Halo 2, so maybe by pressing left on the pad puts up the left gun, while pushing it again puts it down. Then if you press right on the d-pad it will put up or put down the right gun. But I am still puzzled on if Bungie will still make you only carry two guns, even though you will have to carry 3 (1 primary/ 2 for duals). Maybe Bungie will make you always have to use the dual weapons together. It will be interesting to how Bungie resovles this.

I lost that idea completely, it's way too complicated, my earlier idea of the two directions on the dpad to change each side would be easier to do i think.

What a retarded poll. Why do you say that? I want to know the age group of people, sheesh. Anyways, maybe the start button can be used to see the scores, or yeah, maybe the D-pad can be used. But it also is used to move, in case you don't want to use 2 thumbsticks. It is a secondary moving device.

I'd say keep it simple and have holding X either put away or drop the second gun. It already controls picking them up, why not?

because the X button is already used for heaps of things - pushing buttons, picking up guns, reloading, etc

P.S. there are already heaps of topics about Duel weilding button configs did we really need another one?

Yeah, I thought about the millions of functions it already serves, but it really doesn't matter because it's all context sensitive anyway. I'd say that this would be fine, but then again, I remember it being a pain in the butt to try and reload when your hiding behind a vehicle, and it would make you get in. So maybe it should be mapped to a different button...

What's the point of the poll?

  • 04.18.2004 6:00 PM PDT

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

Click Left Thumbstick

It would work. But there are times where gamers can accidently click the left thumbstick. So I would maybe make it double click, or click and hold. This way I don't have to take my fingers off of my control sticks just to drop a weapon and throw a grenade.

In the End... Custom Conrol Setup -> You pick what action you want mapped to each button. Yeah, I'm bad.

What's the point of your post? The poll in this thread is used to determine the ages of some of the Sunday users on this forum.

Hey GHF, weren't we just discussing this yesterday in a different pole, and you're not the only bloke over 20, I'm 22. When I voted on the pole I think I was the third to say that age range so someone else might be twenty something.
