Hello
I agree, however my must have alteration's are as follows:
1) The budget of $700 on Foundry is too small, if you have not had a problem with this then you will as your ideas and creativity expend. Look at Thunder Dome on my file share ,"Xorse", to see an example of this problem, as well as how to make a Teleportal Bounce Pad (as far as I know my own invention). Thunder Dome is a complete map, however two small but worthwhile features had to be removed to fund the grenades and deployable equipment. I could not release enough $ from the layout provide a full set of weapons(only 4 are provided). The budget needs to be a least $800 but $1000 is desirable (I was $200 - $300 short of being able to finish another map Jericho) .
2) Agreed... the undo button is a must have. As is the lock item in current position button (Tip : I don't know if this is common knowledge but without it I could not have placed the Man Cannon's in Thunder Dome.. Put the item anywhere you want it so that when you leave the controls alone it does not move(do not drop it!). Save the map then end game. When you next load the map the item will be fixed in the position it was when you saved it (not on the floor where it droped when you ended game. This still won't make weapons etc float!).
3) If Forge has the ability to let you grab sections of your map, which may include multiple items of various types, then I don't know how to do it and would like to know? If it does not have this ability then it needs it!, rebuilding a map from scratch because you unknowingly placed it in the wrong place within the level (too near a wall, overhang etc) is depressing...
4) You are right some essential building blocks are missing... floor tiles of various sizes (sizable objects would be better, well done whoever surgested that!)... open corner, 3 way, and crossroad boxes (building a tunnel corner with roof costs min $8, $12 with a floor... too much!)... triangular wall, floor bits could be useful... The max Qty of many items is also a bit low, only 8 weapon holders??? I read a guy had created a switch door using these, not tried it yet though.
5) Foundry. This is the only map with a decent set of building blocks available for use on Forge... why?. Foundry's overhangs, giant candy grabber and other features can cause problems. We need a big open space, with a flat floor, no irritating features to work around and a much more generous height limitation... and flying vehicles!
I like many of the other ideas that I have read but these for my are the most critical issues. I would pay $20 for a pro edition of Forge provided it resolved all these issues and included a good mix of other peoples wish's as well. Most Important of all is that everyone who has Halo 3 has the ability to play and enjoy all the things that are created with the pro edition. It should be a free update that gives everyone access to the created content within custom games but does not allow them to access or edit any of it in Forge.
Thanks, bye!
Mike
