great ideas by op!

Team 4NSiK - Looking for teams to scrim, Inv/FR on XbL?

Lol, I read every single thing you wrote, and seems like a brilliant idea. But thats all it can ever be due to technology and programming. Hell yeah i'd pay that much, but even if they did make this, it would be for free, and like the melee update. (Auto Update) However, that being said, some of these ideas are possible, because of people already doing them, or they are already in campaign. (Shade turrets, floating an object etc.) Another good idea would be the turretless vehicles. I think that Bungie should definitely consider a forge update, because the original purpose of forge was to modify weapon spawn and accesibility of a map, and it has changed to a map-making tool. They did their best to accomodate this change with foundry, but now it is definitely time to re-model the physics of forge for the map-makers in all of us.

I would definatley pay 800+ MS for forge updates!

Altho,
I think some of them are completely unnessecarry,

Some of them would be quite helpful, 90* snap would be fantastic.
Altho, I think they giggle at the fact atht we go grey trying make the perfect map...

I would really like to have access to ALL forgeable items on ALL maps.

I would pay for that alone.

There are alot of map ideas that all my day dreaming is for naught, simply because I cant place a energy shield....

Good ideas tho.

I really cant wait to see what new content bungie brings to us.

Im sure they have some secret stuff on their plate at the moment,

but I hope the dont forget about us loyal halo junkies

Lol, I read everything you wrote, and i'd like to say these are all great ideas, but most can only be just that, ideas. This is due to lack of technology and programming issues. And hell yes i'd pay 800 ms points for it, but if this came out it would probably be free, and come in the form of the melee update (an auto-update) But that being said, many of these suggestions can be implemented because they already exist in campaign or from exploits (shade turrets, floating objects etc.) I think that another good suggestion for the list would be turretless/gun-less vehicles. I think bungie should very well implement these possible changes because forge has dramatically changed from what it was meant to be, which was a modifier to change the weapons and accessibilty of a map, but it has changed drastically from that and is now a map-maker, and bungie has shown that they know this by introducing Foundry. But they should update forge for the map-maker in all of us, and not just the map editor.

EDIT: sorry for the double post, it said unable to find topic when I clicked post the first time, so I re-wrote everything without checking if it showed up, lulz

just something I should point out.. If Lets say I buy the update.. but my friend doesn't.. does that mean he can't play on my forged maps? If he could then whats the point of buying it? Just play on other ppls forged maps.. and if you're lucky you can get a friend to forge it up for u..
Somebody else already pointed this out. It would have to be like the map updates. Only people who bought the update would be able to play on a map forged with these items. Then eventually the update would most likely be free.

A few problems:

1. Bodies would throw people off.

2. No wildlife bigger than butterflies and birds should be allowed.

3. If even ONE object of the new update was to be placed in a map, it would cause some people to be unable to play it. The update would have to be free.

How about having bungie put every forge object into foundry? it is a forge map is it not?

  • 06.08.2008 3:08 PM PDT

Dave

YES!! I would think that a remove all objects function would be an excellent feature of forge

This is awesome. One more suggestion though. You should add a system such as the one implemented here

Oh he got himself blacklisted (How did he manage to do that?) Anyway the Idea he had was that there would be switches like the one that opens the gates on last resort or highground. They would work on a channel system like that of teleporters. You could link the switch channels to gates, doors, bombs, etc.

About half of the stuff I'd get rid of, but I'd definately pay to get the 90 degree snapping, the ability to instantly 'canvas' a map, the toggle for floating objects, some sort of a destructable wall/barrier, things like that. Being able to change a map's lighting would be nice too. imo the things like characters/AA wraiths should not even be attempted... I don't even bother to forge anymore, I get so frustrated with lining up walls just right to have them fit together seamlessly, not to mention the annoyance of repeating the savemap/restart trick.

I <3 Bungie.
-----------------
Why isn't punching babies an Olympic sport? Curling's an Olympic sport. Maybe we should try curling with babies... Yeah. That could work.

Yeah.

It should be free though.

Live for nothing die for something.

I like all the suggestions, although like said before some of them are not necessary. I think the most important features for the average forger would be a 90 degree snapping feature, an undo button, and locking items in place.
