Epic Pic
Sup everyone, I'm Josh~ I'm co-founder of Epic Pic, which used to be one of the largest and most successful screenshot group on Bungie.net.

Forge in and of itself is pretty sweet, considering it's on a console. I have thought of many "improvements" I would like to see (like simply being able to delete everything for goodness sake), but I think that Forge on the xbox shouldn't get much more technical than it already is.
If you start adding all of these in-depth features to forge on the 360, it will become less and less of the social playground than it is.
What NEEDS to happen, is that bungie needs to release map editor for the PC. You would be able to do all of these things and presumably much more on your pc, and then you could load it up on your xbox and play around with it to a lesser extent in the console version of Forge. I know that games such as Far Cry have pulled off impressive console map editors, but I think that Forge needs to retain its relative simplicity because that's part of what makes it so much fun to play around with.
Bungie needs to give us a map maker for the PC with much more powerful tools at our disposal. Of course, if that happened, many of the community-made maps would probably outclass many Bungie-made maps, but I don't see Bungie releasing a lot of new map content in the future, so they really have no excuses (as far as that goes) for not giving us a full-featured map editor.
And the bit about AI being impossible to put multiplayer maps is totally bogus. Look at firefight. You have AI and up to 4 players in a confined area with rounds and counters and the like. If that's not "multiplayer" I don't know what is. I'm sure that in the most technical sense of Bungie's take on "multiplayer" there are some immediate limitations that would not allow them to simply drag and drop AI into multiplayer maps as we know them, but I'm sure that even that with a little work could be allowed. Nothing is "impossible", please.
Anyways, Halo was at it's best when it was closest to the PC (i.e, Halo 1). You do know that Halo was originally being developed for the computer, right? You can tell that Halo 1 is a lot closer to a PC shooter than a console shooter, but I find those differences much more enjoyable personally.
Who am I kidding, we will never get a map-maker on the PC, and me posting this is really futile. Don't kid yourself if you think Bungie really pays any close attention to the "community" anymore. As far as they are concerned, the community is whichever demographic is currently making the most purchases of their product, so naturally they are going to try to appeal not only to them but to every demographic as well. It's sad but gaming companies have no real incentive to cater to their hardcore audience. In the past, there was no such thing as "casual" gaming, and even kids games like "The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie" were relatively hardcore, in that they weren't that easy to beat! In the past, you had to be a gamer to be hardcore, and you had to be hardcore to be a gamer.. that's just the way it was. 15 years ago gamers were looked at much differently than they are today! Gamers used to be nerds, geeks, weird.. whatever. Seeing/knowing a girl who actually took time out of her day to play games was completely unheard of for the most part. Today, you are almost weird if you haven't played wii sports or at least some game in general, but that's because I wouldn't call "wii sports" a game in the hardcore sense, of course. It is a casual game.
Anyways, I hope the casual gaming era dies, because it is destroying the quality of games more and more. Game developers are finding out that they can get away with less and less effort, because the casual crowd does not care so much about the small intricate details of a game. They just like something shiny and/or quirky and they are happy. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely think there's a place for the Wii and all the games that go with it, but I don't think anyone should ever confuse a standard wii game for a video game as they used to be made. The word "video game" has taken on a much different meaning over the years, and I hate it.
You know what modding is right?
