343 Guilty Spark.

Just creeped everyone out, and set the mood for the rest of the entire game. You didn't expect any of it.

343 Guilty Spark (I'm kinda sensing a pattern, here). Backing up what DB5414 said, that level really gave me the creeps; it was a feeling that no other level in the series was able to recreate.

It's an atmosphere that no other game(non-horror games) has been able to create. The twist was put in very well.

‮‮Awesax

Pillar of Autumn. It popped my Halo cherry.

Master Chief w/o his Helmet!

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

Tough call between AoTCR and the Maw.

Well Enough Alone...

I played through on coop, an silent cartographer is the best cop leel. T&R is good in coop too, plus I love the beggining with the night time and the purple and the sniper rifles and the "Under cover of night".

I play for keeps.

Silent Cartographer. Always has been my favorite level. Great combo of outdoor and indoor play.

I loved every second of every level except for the Library, and getting through that huge miserable segment on Two betrayals in which you have to get to the Banshee in order to overload the generators.

I can't decide, the whole Campaign was just awesome playing through for the first time, especially 343 Guilty Spark.

ARBITER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!!! WORT WORT WORT.

343, still, sends shivers down my spine when I play it. The cinematics and the turn just freaks a guy out.

The scariest one to play through might be the Library on Legendary though. I still haven't beaten it like that. There's so many Flood.. I remember doing it with my stepbrother and we thought we could hide in one of the underground tunnels until we had shields back. We held off the Flood for an hour there. I concluded that we had to keep going, no health and no ammo. I have yet to do that alone.

343 Guilty Spark.
That was just amazing. Watching that tape with the Marines? Scared me.
But I really liked The Pillar of Autumn, I dunno why.

The Maw was fun at the end going "HOLY -blam!-! SON OF A -blam!-!!!!!".

I chose Halo as the best for first time through because the walk after you clear out the initial crash area was just impressive. I knew right then that the scale of the game and the visual appeal it would have would be right up my alley! Add to that you get to use the sniper rifle, and find out just how much fun that pistol is going to be, well, it rocked!

For a level by level, well this will be rough around the edges because it was so long ago, but here goes:

PofA: as a starter level it allows you to ease in and get in the mood to start killing things, since you start with nothing but a shield, you are like "HEY GIVE ME SOMETHING TO SHOOT WITH!"

Halo: see above

T & R: I loved the night aspect of this level, and the terrain. I cannot remember how many times I fell off those darn cliffs, but it was plenty in the beginning days! You also get to meet the hunters, which initially seemed brutally tough, till you found out you could kill them with one well placed pistol round to the gut or back.

SC: The opening battle is one of the highlights of CE. You also get to meet the invisible and sword elites for the first time, and how they did it, basically walking right into them without any warning, well, that was a pants changer!

AotCR: simply put: "MAJESTICALLY ARSEKICKING!"

343: For a video game of its time, successfully haunting and anxiety producing. Lacking in overall combat for too much of the first half of the level, but the tension mounts and induces enough panic that you just cannot figure your way out till you have pulled half of your hair out. Good job Bungie, especially that sneaky down elevator when you think you have finally made it out.

Library: it bothers me that so many people do not get into this level, when I went through it the first time I felt like a madman with that shotgun!

2B: I fell in love with this level the first time I played it, and it has never ever gotten boring for me. Granted it is AotCR in reverse, you knew the layout, but the gameplay was outstanding!

Keyes: Bummer for the Captain, but BLACK ELITES! WOO HOO!

Maw: Cortana was right, leave home for a bit and look at what the nasty neighbors do to the place! I liked the combat of this level, but was kind of disappointed by the drive at the end. Granted I was also disappointed by the Boss fight at the end of 2 (Tarturus), so maybe I am just hard to please.

I keep getting banned since the mods are unfunny and suck at their jobs!

Halo, 343 Guilty Spark is so fu-ing overrated.

Halo brought all of the game mechanics together, for an exception of Ghosts and Banshees. It didn't have all of the enemies in the same level, but it was better that way. This level may be boring for some, but that is because it is a level of strategy, my friend.

NOT A LEVEL WHERE YOU SHOOT ZOMBIES THAT JUST RUN TO YOU LIKE IDIOTS AND YOU HAVE THE BEST CLOSE RANGE WEAPON IN THE GAME

343 guilty spark. We played it for the first time me and my friend split screen, I took the hints along the way so I wasn't as suprised at the flood, but my friend, who sprays and prays, was owned. He now hates the level, I love it

Heh. Gotta make every shot hit something against the Flood(in this game). They don't just fall apart after 2 shots dontchaknow. i miss that...

T & R -
Had no interest in such a violent game - came as a freebie when my wife worked for Microsoft. Took it for a spin, and thought it was pretty cool.
But by T & R... Was starting to think, "This is the greatest videogame experience I've ever had..."

First sight of Hunters...Zealots...Active Cammo...Wraith... Shessh.
Belly of the Beast indeed.

Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals were my favourites, simply because of how HUGE the levels were compare to others and the vehicles you could jump into. Not to mention having the Sniper Rifle on that one turned you into a walking death machine.

: )
