Oh, and also, the way I have my Xbox360 set up, is I have the modem connected to the computer with a USB cable, and then the Xbox is connected to the modem with an Ethernet cable. Is that enough?
Yes, XBC will work with Halo from the marketplace. Why wouldn't it?Oh, and also, the way I have my Xbox360 set up, is I have the modem connected to the computer with a USB cable, and then the Xbox is connected to the modem with an Ethernet cable. Is that enough? That setup sounds wrong. For starters do you have a router?

Is that enough? It's supposedly possible. Look at Setup D. I've never tried this setup. I wouldn't be too much help.[Edited on 05.10.2008 3:10 PM PDT]
Yes, if he has a crossover cable and uses it to connect the Xbox to the PC instead of using what I assume is an ethernet patch cable from the Xbox to the modem, then go about configuring Windows ICS (internet connection sharing) then that'll work.I only ask if he's got a router to make this easier.
whats a nic card
I'm sure a router would be much easier, and if you don't make your own, crossover cables are kinda overpriced. That being said, are crossover cables going to be necessary on a 360? The original Xbox wasn't auto-switching, but the 360 is. I would think it should work with a regular patch cable when using an Xbox 360.
By all means you should try it with a regular patch cable if you believe that's the case. I wouldn't know considering I don't have a 360.
I don't know what a nic card and crossover cable and all that is but... I'll see if I can explain my set up...I've got the phone line cable running from the plug in the wall to my modem. Then my computers connected o the modem with a blue USB cabel which plugs into the USB plug in the front of the computer. Then my X360 is connected to the modem with an Ethernet cable. It looks like this:http://img398.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mysetuppy7.pngAnd I have a broadband connection.
Tell me if that works. Simultaneously connect to Xbox Live on the 360 and browse the internet on the PC because I doubt it'll work. You're trying to use the modem like a router and basically assume it can share your internet connection to both devices. What you have to do is connect the 360 to the computer with an ethernet crossover cable. If you don't have one then just try with a regular ethernet patch cable. Then use Windows ICS or the other programs mentioned under Setup D to share your internet connection.
The NIC is what the ethernet cable plugs into. If you can plug an ethernet cable into your computer, Setup D should work.
Like Fatso said you can't run both devices off of the modem using USB and Ethernet at the same time. No NAT functions exist in the modem so you wouldn't be able to capture the system link traffic from your xbox that way. You can use ICS or the much easier way, just get a router. A wired 10/100 router is dirt cheap these days.[Edited on 05.19.2008 9:20 PM PDT]
Awesax
I believe it does indeed work.
