According to Teamxbox

To tell the truth. I just wanted to say. I told you so 4 years ago. The game was and still is very unpolished, and while the ranking system and matchmaking were great. The game was rushed. Bungie admitted they had scheduling problems and uncoordination with a new, larger team, and the game didn't come out like they wanted. I applaud teamxbox for putting the game on their list. I also applaud them for putting that overrated "expansion pack" like GTA: Vice City on the list. Not to mention COD 3.

I disagree. I don't feel that it is overrated.

I will not deny that it lacks polish in some areas. The Bungie guys themselves have basically even said that.

But the game is still amazign. Every aspect of it does not need polish for it to be a very good game. Look at Halo 1. It's incredibly unpolished, and it's one of the best FPS games ever made.

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

RIP Halo 2

I was more amazed after halo 2 came out than I was after halo3. Halo 3 was a huge let down, other than campaign, forge, and film.

Only God can judge me!

I believe that H2 was a much better game than H3 due to the maps and gameplay. With H2 people played tactical and didn't rely on the melee. Also H3 doesn't have a unique gameplay layout as H2 did H2 started the duels and new weapons. H3 has equipment that is a bit dodgy in it's self.

It's definitely over rated. Had the word "Halo" not been in the title and it was a sequel to a different game, I guarantee it wouldn't have been as popular. Does that make the game bad per se? No. However, the entire Halo franchise has been over rated in general. Quite a shame, really.

“...and the game didn't come out like they wanted.”
Members of many teams producing video games have the same feeling about the games they create for a multitude of reasons. In some cases, bug lists depress programmers or some content did not make it in, all due to time constraints for putting out a major game. Many game makers have felt the pressure of getting a game put out within a certain amount of time. This means that many game makers have left games ‘incomplete’ and ‘unpolished.’ In fact, find any group of game makers that thought the game they created was complete, polished, and free of errors.

Halo 2 provides an excellent example of a well-polished game. For example, how many times has campaign froze on you? How many times have you encountered grammar errors in campaign? Maybe those that want to criticize Halo 2 ought to polish the criticisms before posting. Do you know that the average word processor comes with a grammar check? In Microsoft Word 2003, push <F7> to initiate a grammar check and proceed to fix errors. Then, copy and paste the polished writing into the post.

Why not give specific examples of what you mean by overrated.

I like Call of Duty and Gears of War, AND Halo. Why must everyone else like only one or the other?

Actually, as much as I enjoy all the Halo games I think they are all a little overrated. (Not that they aren't good games, but I do think they are a little overrated in just how good they are) But on the specific topic of Halo2 yes it is a bit overrated. It is glitchy (Look at all the superjumps and all the different button combos) but to be honest I'm surprised it isn't more glitchy. From the bonus disc in the limited edition of Halo2 you see that the game was made in basically 9 months. That is very rushed, especially for the sequal to what was one of the biggest (If not the biggest) console first person shooters at that time.

If you take a polished game as something that doesn't crash and it's written portion is grammatically correct then you have some pretty low standards. The game had pop in textures throughout the entire game and ugly looking cutscenes that made me want to turn away. The campaign was plagued with an incoherent storyline that jumped back and forth from human to Covenent and reeked with cliched boss battles that defied logic. The fight with Tartarus for example had him respawning back on the platform everytime he fell over the edge and Sgt Johnson possessed the only weapon in the game that could drop his shields. The combat was Interspersed with boring level design and equally boring combat that didn't make me want to replay the level. On top of that the game just stopped and the credits rolled. The whole thing just felt incomplete in almost every way.

For the multiplayer side the game was so polished that they had to release a patch shortly after it release to fix a slew of issues in multiplayer. Bugs, game breaking exploits, reduce split screen clutter by removing oversized text messages, fix HDTV display issues that cut off the edge of the screen and not to mention tweak grenade damage and timing and rebalance power of certain duals, nerf Magnums and tighten the spread of the BR. And still leave the superbouncing and button glitches because they missed those bugs before release. Granted they've been fixed there are still more unpolished things in multiplayer that I won't go into.
