Not to mention you should never have a reason to take the top (case?) off your XBox unless you were going to do something to it, and Modification talk is frowned upon here...

Or he could just want to take off the top so he could customize it...you people always jump to the worst conclusions. Granted, he probably is engaging in something illegal, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

you need special screwdrivers called 'torx' screwdrivers, size 10 and 20. there are 6 screws on the bottom, 1 under each rubber ''foot'' and 2 under the two stickers. be careful doin this though

Go to a place like xbox scene, or xbox modification. By the power invested in me, I invest the power in you. I hereby proclaim that you can think, and you can act, on your own. These powers are inherently the properties of humans. To aid you on your quest, I give you a clue. Google. It has the answers you are seeking, but you must seek it, before you seek your answers.

yeah they are illegal in it's sense but it's not really gonna get you into major trouble. The console companies frown upon it. Plus if you use it to copy a game onto your HD and your caught playing it online then bye bye live!

and your painting problem, dont paint it yourself there are custom paint sticker things for the x-box at this nice site but search around.

Raider, you know some people value the experience of painting it more than the way it looks.

Indeed. I myself am saving towards the purchase of another xbox. There are many things that the mod community has done that are not inherently evil. Some people do not wish to steal things. Some people would like to untap potential. I my self am very interested in customizing my xbox to suit me personally. We sell Ferrari's, we sell honda civics. Although both can be used to break the law, they both have uses above and beyond the breaking of laws. Things can be enjoyed without breaking laws can they not? All Microsoft and other console makers want to ensure, is that their technology is NOT being used to harm people. Unlike music and movies, the money made by gaming is not directly flowed to its creators and definetly in not the same amounts.

There is a level of degree to everything in life. Choosing to follow it in different doses in every situation is well warranted as not everything in life is consistent. Trust that there will be bumps along the rode, and the first one you go over will not startle you. Trust that these bumps make the excitement of the road more enjoyable, and you will see the bumps in a whole new light. Unexpected events can lead to unexpected occasions of joy.

you can get away with just using an alens(sp?) wrench, I took apart a friends xbox (it ws out of warenty which is like 90 days anyway and he had a Thompson drive and the gear that opened the tray id missing just gone. also does anyone have an extra by chance? didnt think so) anyway its realy east to take apart.

also you though people in this forum are nice? ha you must not be here often nice people are few-and-far-between the rest are spammers and people who just flame for no reason.
