bungie creates co-op maps just for co-op and they have certain objectives for the co-op players to follow. Co-op wouldnt just be the campaign it'd have other missions

I believe he is pertaining towards games that have seperate missions for co-op mode, the most briliant being the such being displayed in Perfect Dark.

Bungie has created the "Halo Universe" but it really predates Halo : Combat evolved. Marathon and other games are also part of this universe. After playing many Bungie Games, i believe that the designers have the following objectives.

Story: They want the most magnificent story, they want you to play a movie.

Gameplay: They do not believe in the "Game Over" prophecy. They believe that games should be stories in which the means to get through them are not hindered by thrusting you back into your own reality.

Co-op: Co-op is the ability to experiance the story line with a friend, although to this date, they appreciate the ability of Xbox Live to bring people together, I am quite sure that they beleve the best experiance is in person. Whether or not they choose to approve the Single Player missions to be played Co-Op over live is entirely their call. An individual story line for co-op would have to be unobtrusive into the Halo Universe, and quite frankly is harder than creating a single player story line. Time and effort for seperate Co-op missions must be weighed and the effect on the single player must be minimal. We all work on schedules and unfortunately the Developers do not have combat suits to aid them in their work. They are limited to their human capabilities.

Multiplayer: Multiplayer is a common theme throughout gaming, it increases the playability of a game. Unlike other consoles, the Xbox provides THE leading and best edge for multiplayer gaming. Bungie wants to effectively utilize it to create new online gameplay experiances. A co-op experiance to me, would be 2 people playing on live together, or playing against bots. Effectively, this is as good as a co-op mission. There are several objective based multiplayer game types. The formality however is gone. Cutscenes today take extremely large amounts of time, and Bungie follows one law of Karma. If your gonna do something, do it right, and give it the best amount of talent you can to it. They work for that 110% perfection.

As you can see, Bungie is fairly well knowledgable in the gameplay they wish to convey to us, the end users. They want to have a profound effect by the experiances they give through us by the god given Xbox. (all hail mighty Bill) We owe them our reverence and their acknowledgement of their wisdom to make choices that will benefit our experiances.
