Since i havn't heard anything being mentioned about 'boosts' n' such for the worthog, wouldn't it be cool if there was an options so you could drive as a manual or automatic driving? I don't think the triggers are doing anything... yet.

If this has already been mentioned, please tell me.

Meh, I think it would be too much to think about for some people, because unlike racing games, there's much more to take into account. Number one, it's not a set track, you can drive everywhere. Number two, people are shooting at you. Number three, most people who play shooters online aren't very bright. Number four, I'm too lazy to worry about gears.

Not to contradict, but if I'm not mistaken, the left trigger is the hand brake while the right trigger is the horn.

Meh, it doesn't really matter to me, as long as I can sound that horn.

Dude, you gotta remember, this is the future we are talking about. Even if it was a manual (bet the future people would stare at you like this is a curse word) there would be a little robot in the glove compartment changing it for you. Automatic is better, dont have to worry about gears while you are trying to swerve just right so the back bumpter slams into an elite.

maybe for the main game where only your life is at stake so -blam!- ups don't make you mortal enemies with poeple online due to your accidental gear changes.
i doubt this feature will be in halo 2 magazine because in xbox gamer it states that the warthog changes gears automatically and you will be able to feel it as you pick up speed

Thats right, but you have it backwards I think.

Also bungie stated that the Warthog will drive way more realistically, and you will be able to hear and feel it accelarate as it switches through gears

No he was right first time, left trigger is hand brake, right trigger is horn.
And yes your right on the latter point

Automatic is better

You obviously haven't ever driven a manual. Or maybe you couldn't drive it properly. You don't get the same sense of control over an automatic, and (especially with smaller engines) often automatics don't have enough power to start. Manuals are basically better in every way except for the "duh, how does you drove this thung?" factor.

Were talking about a Warthog in the video game world right. Considering Halo 2 is a FPS and not a racing game, I would have to agree that Automatic is better.

yes, manual is all well and good for the real world but when i'm driving the warthog at full speed towards the enemy base so my mate can capture the flag and there is suddenly a large incline, i don't want to worry about changing gears i just want to drive

thanks, also if human vehicles had gears, making them harder to use as effectively as before everyone would favour covenant vehicles because they simply hover and don't have gears and would be much simpler to use. everyone would use shadows instead of warthogs for example. therefore i think automatic changes work best

I wonder how they would make the Shadow different from the Warthog without making it to powerful? If it even makes it into the game of course.

I don't even think that the hog had gears to begin with. Even if there were gears, I'd just punch it into the highest gear and zoom through the level.
