If you dont like me stop reading now, because you probably wont like my ideas. Otherwise please read onward.

1.ATV's. Basically this has to be my most wanted new vehicle for Halo 2, and I cant wait to see one in motion. Anyways, I was thinking. Since some of the maps in Halo 2 are going to have jumps(like burial mounds), what if when you caught air, the camera switched to first-person perspective, and you were able to shoot your primary weapon in any direction you wanted (basically taking the term"drive-by's" to a whole new level(fly-by's perhaps lol), and then when you landed, the camera would switch back to third-person perspective. I beleive this would be plausible, seeing as the fact that they have already stated that you would be able to shoot a weapon directly in front of you while riding the ATV. You could catch air over an enemy, pop a couple caps in his head, and then land and continue as usual.

2. A lot of people have been talking about Bots. Some have said that there completely unecessary because you can play against real human beings on Live, others have argued that the majority of people dont have Live, and it would be usefull for people that dont have many friends, and some have even said that even if there were bots in Halo 2, the A.I. would never be diversed enough for them to be even fun or challenging. So I was thinking, to make bots usefull to people who have live(besides putting them in matches with a few number of people in them to make it funner), what if there were downloadable ghosts? Not "ghosts" the vehicle, but ghosts as in A.I that resembled other real life players. For instance, there is this guy whos really good, and is up at the top of the leaderboard. You want to know what his strategys are and how he does his thing. So you go onto Xbox Live and download his up to date ghost(sord of like Project Gotham only with Master Chiefs). The ghost is that players A.I. which is made up from the stats of all the Live multiplayer matches(and maybe even campaign) hes ever been in. Once downloaded, a bot would act like that player(his movements, skill, weapon preferences, etc.). SInce Bungie has already stated that Halo 2 stats are going to keep track of almost everything you do, I think this would be plausible.

3. If online 4 player co-op is made possible, I think it should work like this. There is one master chief, and the rest are marines or ODSTs. The marines would have no shields, and would not be as strong. Every 5 minutes(or certain period of time)it would switch Master Chief to another person. So as you play through campaign there is none of that rushing through the level too fast, or that "hey I wanted to kill that grunt" talk. This system would force you to work as a team more, beacuase the Chief would have to protect the marines a little bit. Also if anybody dropped out, that player would switch to A.I. controlled.

So what do you guys think? Let me know if you like one of them, or dont like one of them, or if Im crazy all together.

I quite like idea 1, as it is you can fire 1 single handed weapon while riding the ATV (I think) but when jumping youd have no use for steering so it would be nice if you could switch to primary or even duel wield. Perhaps there should be a button to switch you into first person on the ATV at any time so you can do this (you wouldn't be able to steer but you could cause some damage)

I'm not sure how they would implament Idea 2, but it would be quite fun "downloading someones ghost" to play againsed, but this wouldn't solve the question about bots for people whod don't have live yet.

I simply don't agree with 4 player co-op and I think that bothe players should be spartans like in the original Halo.

1. The ATV has already been discussed a lot. As you can see in the recent screen/concept art released by Bungie they are definetly on their radar map. Whether or not they make it into the game depends on the amount of fun had by them being there. Ghosts to me own ATV's

2. Your bot idea is pretty much implausible. Ghosts work on the recorded movements, and they are exact replays. Bungie would have to make first tracking code to track and record movements, and then have to figure out all of the tactics and stuff and then figure out when to utilize them. All bot system today are objective based. Different maps, different objectives. The main ones being to kill enemies. In Singleplayer you already have AI attacking you, adjusting to your attacks and so on. It is not hard to transplant much of that code into MP and add in more interface options. In Fact, Bungie has already programmed bots, they are currently testing all maps for glitches. They set up 300 xboxes and each one has several MC's and enemies parading around killing each other. No one expects bots to be exactly human like, they can mimic some features and make up for the rest with probability, randomness and accuracy. I personaly want to be able to have bots as a training simulator. You can modify their speed, accuracy, strength and the number of them as well as modifying your own. Make yourself invincible and make them weak, use them as target practice, work at engaging multiple targets. Or have them have standard health and find out how many you can take on at once. These things really help people get better at playing the game. They also are very challanging.
I would love if Halo had a Challange system just like Perfect Dark, but i highly doubt it would be in there.

3. I would think that a Brute Force strategy for 4 player co-op would be better. Let people come in, drop out, game goes on. Just like you said the AI controls whoever is not human. Enemies focus equal attention, or change attention level according to skill displayed by human or by skill level completed on the single player/ranking. Several factors that it could use. Make sure that each person gets equal contact. 4 player on the mic is ok, and will work just fine.

one thing I hope bungie has is labeling. I want to be able to see everyone's name in game. That way I can tell BObUhadababyitsaboy that there is an elite about to swipe a plasma across his six. Instead of going, HEY WATCH OUT YOU. And everyone turns around...you can almost see it in their masks that they are pissed off you wasted their precious 2.2 miliseconds.

1. ATVs have already been confirmed, this wasnt what I was talking about.

2. I want the same thing as you only I would like to see bots mimic playing styles of other people.

3. You basically agree with me here except I dont know what "4 player on the mic" means.

Ya I know, you would still have all the options of normal offline bots(tweaking them out and stuff), but this would be something extra for people with Live.

I was saying that everyone being Spartans is more in tune with the Halo universe. Although, I have no idea if any spartans remain. There were 27 spartans in the fall of reach the last time they were all together. 3 went somewhere else. that leaves 25. James and Kelly died, that leaves MC, 22. the 22 were sent down to REACH but it is highly doubtful that they survived.

There was another program of Spartans to be trained, but that would be on REACH also...so I doubt they would survive if they were on theplanet.

Im not making up a new character or anthing like that, this is the Marines and ODSTs were talking about. I just think that Co-op was too easy, and this would make it a little more difficult and team oriented.

I like idea 3. Idea two would be pretty cool. I don't know about idea 1. That might get kind of nauseating if the camera keeps switching like that every time you hit a bump and get your wheels off the ground. I like all of them, just saying that if idea 1 isn't implemented right, the camera might flip for a quarter of a second and then go back to third person, and that would be really annoying.

I hear what your saying, so hear are some additions to the 1. idea. This camera switching thing would only happen when you hit big enough jumps at specific spots in the level, not if your ATV hits a little bump.

That is what your individual emblems are for that appear over your head. You will know who it is by their symbol.

I love the Ghost idea they use something similar on VF4 where if you play enough it will learn your instincts and react just like you would now it would be challenging be would be pretty freaking cool like say playing against yourself!

I thought about your ghost players theory carefully and i dont think that could work unless they have premade bots and then just add to those bots the fact that they prioritise the rocket launcher above any other weapon for example if the gamer likes the rocket launcher and so on.

I thought it would be cool to download a players most recent games to your hard-drive. So you could wander about the map or set the camera to follow the desired player through a reinacted multiplayer game and learn what he does and where he goes to learn some tactics and get a feel for how top beat that player.

I think your ghost idea is onto something innovative that could well be very good in Halo 2 but your initial idea is a bit lame. You cant fight against a ghost, its impossible so I think you would be purely limited to watching a players actions rather than fighting them.

Perhaps recording a battle between you and your foe would be good so you can see where you went wrong and how your opponant defeated you so you can adapt your fighting style to improve. These are my ideas and I hope more people discuss ideas regarding ghosts as I find it very intriguing and interesting...

i heard you can just shoot with a onehanded weapon while driving the ATV...

COOP-every one is a spartan, not a MC. fits in story and you dont have to be a wuss ass ODST. your a -blam!- SPARTAN II with Mjolnir Mk VI armor!!

and bots, i dont care to read what you said. it doesnt matter what bungie wants to do, cuz i jsut dont care. ill play friends only even if they have bots. friends will be much better competition too. legendary campaign would be harder than bots i bet. -blam!- bots. -blam!- em in their fairy -blam!- asses.

the bot idea is kinda creepy... u'd have to have genius ai, and, as the matrix and terminator fils have shown, genius AI is bad. but the ATV idea is sweet.

Just to make it a little clearer for people, my bot idea is for downloadable A.I that would mimic certain players, or even yourself. You would go onto the Live leaderboard and find someone you wanted to practice against(or just type in their name if you know who they are) then download them. Then, when your playing a non-live game, one of the bots would act like that player(how smart or aggressive they are, what weapons they use the most, what vehicles, etc.).

Ya I think depending on how many players your using the number of enemies should increase.
2 people - 25%
3 people - 50%
4 people - 75%

have you read Halo first strike? the MC goes to Reach and Kelly is still alive along with Fred, Grace, Li, and a couple others. Kelly doesnt die she just disappears at the end of First Strike.

Idea number 4. A lot of you know that a rolling maneuver was mentioned in one of the
articles over at IGN. Yes, I know a lot of the stuff they say is incorrect and they could have been embellishing, but anyways. I started thinking about how this feature could actually be implamented. The D-pad perhaps, I mean they did say this would be used for peaking so maybe it could be used for rolling too.............No, the more I thought about it the more I realized this wouldnt work. A quick maneuver like rolling wouldnt even be useful if you had to move your hand to the D-pad. So, I was thinking, If you guys have ever played Crimson Skies, you might be familiatr with the ability to do special maneuvers. These moves are done by double-taping the analog sticks in different directions. This sord of thing could easily be applied to Halo 2 multiplayer. Lets say a ghost is boosting right towards you cause the guy wants to run you over(now remember you cant jack him cause hes boosting). To get out of the way quickly enough, you double tap the left analog stick left or right(strafe)and then roll in that diretion! You would not be able too shoot while rolling, but it would be very quick anyways. The camers would actually spin with you too. You would not be able to roll over and over again either. It would take about five seconds before you would be able to perform another one. This maneuver could even be applied while jumping as well to perform a john-woo flip! lol. Okay maybe thats taking it too far!
