You are forgetting a few major points.

A) We knew the attack would happen. Not when. It was less of a surprise but a surprise none the less.

B) The books say that by 2552 humans will have settled on other planets. Earth won't need to spare as many people in other battles.

C) Just because we've been fortifying Earth and we established the Cole Protocol, doesn't necessarily mean we were prepared. We weren't as prepared as we though.

civilians and animals that is a must. and if you shoot them you dont fail that belongs in splintercell or rainbow six this is halo2 and in halo1 you could kill your marines they would shoot back after you kill a few though. thats the way it should be. that is what its like in real life if you betray your ppl you dont get a "mission failed" screen you get shot at by them.

The situation : D-Day World War II
We managed to draw up a plan and execute it to save europe in less time than we would of had if the covenant attacked. We would definatly be able to get enough soldiers to fight the covies. Anyone can pick up a gun and aim for a kill.

There it would be cool to see animals as new monbassa is in africe, o the ouskirts of the city you could chance covies through a herd of something, taking damage when you get hit & the odd civilian ducking through the crossfire to get to shelter would add to the realism.

Just base the game on the events of WWII add some aliens and badass technology and Wala!

I'm not sure if this really makes a difference, but I thought it was worth pointing out that D-Day was an offensive attack, while Halo 2 will be all defense.

Ah true. Couldnt we counterattack, like ignore the ground forces and attack the ships. Leaving the groundforces with no reinforcements. Just a thought.

If the books are any guide, then Human space craft are no match for even the smallest of the Covanant space craft. The Covenant weapons and shielding systems are far more advanced than that of the Humans. The Humans best bet is ground warfare because that is where the MC and other possible surviving Spartans can make a difference:) I still think you make a valid point. If mankinds only choice is death, then I would like to think that we would all fight no matter how prepared we were.

I didn't think about this earlier, but by 2552 their may be genetically ehanced animals. Dinosaurs may once again roam the forest, although I doubt it. What if their is a Spartan type program for some animals. If Earth is anything like it is today, then Dr. Halsey had to test the Spartan program on animals before humans.

I'm probably getting a little to crazy with this idea?

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

Only if they're in multiplayer and I could use them as teamates if I was teh Flood.
