Long sorry about it. Anyway Maybe this is asking for too much or just a dumb idea. But what if each AI(Human or Covie) were given a random "friend value" or whatever you want to call it. And depending on how close it is to that of another say marine, they would react differently. Say that their numbers were far apart they would have dialog that makes it seem that they hate each other or they may send them into a trap or something. I don't think the trap should really happen because everyone is on the same side but I couldn't think of anything else. Anyway if there number was very close(this is what I really want) one may jump in the way and take a plasma shot or nade for another. Or if his comrade gets shot and falls to the ground he may drag him behind some cover and maybe stay with his buddy during the firefight. I was also thinking about with the injured marine maybe his friend could inject biofoam or something to keep him alive and depending on how good a job he does, which would just be random, he may bring his friend back to life. Then if his friend can fight you gain another marine back. Or on the other hand if hes too injured the marine thats not injured may ask you if he can evac with his friend and you would be allowed to give the order as to whether he should be allowed to or not. Although I wouldn't want this thing to happen all the time maybe just once or twice so it doesn't get repetitive.
This way it wouldnt be a lot of scripted events and it would feel more like real combat. Dunno just thought things like that would help with immersion quite a bit.

That would be very cool, and it would add to the realism and chaos of a balls-out firefight.

It would be interesting to see something like that, but it probably won't happen in a FPS.

There would be no penalty for MC if a 'friend' got greased....

Then again there are games like Deus Ex....

Just so everyone knows maybe I didn't make this clear i'm not talking about giving orders to your marines during combat. I just thought that maybe after a firefight if you had wounded on the very few occasions(not every battle) it would be cool to decide whether to leave the soldier to die or to leave his friend with him to evac him out. Also maybe in a later mission the 2 come back to help or something. But nothing huge such as they come back and bomb everything like in an rpg.

It Definatly Sounds Cool! But I think sending someone into a Trap is a little to much.. Because, they should Realize in Halo 2 that they are ALL Humanregarless of Skin, Culture, or the boundries of enemey and friend. So I can see them hating each other and one person might not help his Hated Ally during a Covie Sniper Attack BUT but not sending someone into a trap to get killed...

How about if one of the guys close friends gets killed the marine gets really mad that they killed his frined so he pulls the pins ona ll his nades and "your all gonna die!!" and doe like a charge in a vehicle or rns into the covies and blows em all up lol, or mabey just gets really mad and starts fightning really good.
