Goodbye Frankie.
Even though I almost never posted a comment on bungie.net I felt like this was an update that I had to comment on.
Dear Frankie,
Although I do not know you personally and probably never will, I would still like to express my sincere gratitude to you for the work that you have done on a truly inspiring and passionate part of my life.
It is people like you that have helped video gaming culture to become mainstream in our era. I don't know if you realize the profound effect you have had on millions of people across the globe. Some of them probably don't even play Halo, but Halo's huge success in every field has changed what interactive media and gaming is today, for everybody. Over the past 7 years since the original Halo was first released, the video game industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Halo played a vital role in this, and it created an unprecedentedly large online (and offline) society of gamers.
As technology improves and becomes more and more a vital part of our daily lives, much like the first television and radio had in the past, in a couple of decade's years time video gaming will be the most prevalent form of entertainment in human civilization.
And just as how the pioneers of the radio and television are recognized and remembered today, YOU, Frankie, along with the rest of the Bungie staff will be remembered for your important contribution to this natural development of human sociology, technology, entertainment, media and lifestyle.
When we think about all the things that Halo has done, uniting gamers, celebrating our hobby as a social group, and building a rock solid foundation of a community through Halo 2 on xbox live and bungie.net, it is people like Frankie that will be remembered and thanked for their dedication to allow us to experience the complete euphoria it is to play a game like Halo 3.
Frankie I cannot express enough my thanks and passion for everything that you are a part of regarding Bungie's operations of helping to create a genre of entertainment that millions across the globe are most passionate about, a mainstream presence in all forms of media.
I hope that you are happy and successful in your future plans at that you never, ever forget what you have done for us, a community of over 1 million people (and Bungie lovers).
Never forget the vital role you had in making what is a life passion for myself and millions of others, a mainstream thing.
And please never forget your fans. It is us who will make you realise exactly how much of a profound effect your actions have had, and have yet to come over the years.
Best wishes and kind regards,
Gurpreet Sandhu (London, U.K. - will be studying at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland! - You have done us proud my son!!!
By the way, the best Mister Chief in my opinion so far was the one in the Halo Graphic Novel! (Just thought you might like to know.)
