The flame that burns so bright and hot
within your heart when you see spam
should be quenched or you give the -blam!-
exactly what the -blam!-tard sought
when he wrote the -blam!-ing spam.

Useful? Useless? Just venting? I know it's not exactly Coleridge...

-- Steve's happy that the silly thing is out of his head... and maybe in others'.

Well it's a cute jingle, but you aren't going to sell any soft drinks with it...

Come'on guys, Spamming is not a joke; it is a serious matter that needs solving as fast as possible... such comments can only make those spammers do it even more. We don't want that to happen, so just let the topic die a death, ok.

The solution's in the ditty Fox - Just let it go and the spammers lose their twisted little game.
It's not going to go away by ingoring the topic, they will do it again and again, just ignore the spammers themselves. They will be deleted by the mods over and over until they get tired.
Or until Achronos' new 'tools' become availiable...

I'm glad Jim got the joke (and solution) embedded in the ditty.

Spam isn't solved so much as worked-around. Spam exists due to certain common behavioural traits in us, those who post on these forums. We're opinionated and we want to express those opinions... or we wouldn't be posting, would we? Spammers exploit this for their own insalubrious purposes.

I was trying to create a propaganda piece we could use to inculcate the idea that "spam happens, let's deal with it in a mature and responsible manner." The most responsible way is to notify the moderators and leave it the heck alone. But that requires a fair amount of self-control, because the "red, shiny, candy-like" flame button is so easy and so fun to hit. To understate slightly, there isn't a lot of self-control on these boards right now.

We can't prevent spam. That's just not possible. But we can mitigate it by encouraging folks to report it to moderators promptly and to LEAVE IT THE HECK ALONE!

So how do we get the word out?

-- Steve once worked as propaganda minister of a ficticious government... why not for the World Domination Tour too?

Well you are of course correct -- Although it's very hard. ( I fell for bait just today in fact... )

It takes practice...

I don't know what's wrong anymore. These kids on here take everything the wrong way anymore, and it starts to get on my nerves so bad. They like to poke at you until you flip out.

I can hear it now, being sung to the Oscar Meyer Wiener theme.
