Wouldn't it be cool toike not have maps and just be one huge halo to battle on?

It would be good for a huge tournement of something. But not for 2-16 people.

That would be a MMOFPS (Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooeter)

They're very hardware and bandwidth intensive but do exist but often suffer from reduced graphical quality. Perhaps Halo3 on Xbox2 could handle it.

I wish they made it like joint ops typhoon rising over a hundred FPS players without ANY lag.

SB-117

Maybe not online but like the whole game is like one map (like metroid) and you can really go off track and explore halo and its wonders (coutesy of bungie) and the freedom would be nice. However I think that it just strays alittle from the original path of what Halo is about. Dont get me wrong I love the games layout as it is I just thought it would be cool if you could go explore alittle more.

It could be done but these sort of things require a monthly charge. The company has to provide it's own computers to server as hosts which all players connect to. No player hosts his own game. This also make it incredibly hard to cheat so that's good too.

Meanwhile, Xbox live serves not as a hosting service but as a matching service, allowing you to find other Xboxes which are willing to host. This requires minimal facilities.
