Seriously, every time I try to play, I lag out almost instantly. I mean, I bought this game so that I could godamnded play it, not so I can just sit and watch helplessly as my character is killed over and over again while I just sit there staring and waiting for the little red box to go away.

Don't just say 'GET A BETTER COMP!'. Your comp specs are not what make you lag.

Well first off, give your system specs (please include video card) also, do you mean while playing online or when playing during the campaign. Cuz if it's during the campaign then yeah buddy it is your comp.

uh...if it's lagging in campain, that it is becauseyour computer sucks, but if you get it on multiplayer, it's mostly due to gearbox's crappy port job. they made the netcode so bad,it you can't get under 80 ping (unless you're a host), and a 100, it lags like mad...
oh, and angel slayer, did you plug your nvidia card into the powersuply? i once had that problem, b/c i forgot to plug it in.....

Heyyo,

Yeah, my comp's ok for the particles, they still slow down the game pretty bad, but doesn't die.. I suggest you check that too, cause vidcards can't get enough power from the slot, it needs direct psu power.

Yes, crappy port with the crappy netcode cause bad lag.

another reason its so laggy is becuase bungie/microsoft made gearbox make the game so 56k/dialup users can play with highspeed internet users which if retarded IMO also the game is server side not client side so everything goes through the server first then back to the client. notice how xbl is highspeed users only. also gearbox didnt do the greatest job on the netcode but it sure didnt help having to make it compatible for dialup

yes , it should, unless i'm mistaken, and you card doesn't have an a/c slot
otherwise, it might not be getting enough power

Indoor levels effect my graphics card the most. (in a bad way)

I hear Custom Edition gets rid of most of the lag.

I have had 2 of my own laptops. One i got 2 years ago. Thatone sucked with the vidio. Since i had to run it in the smallest setting ( i think it was like 800x6something) i had the black border around my screen. It made it impossable to reed anything. But whenever i upped the pixles (to 1024Xwhatever) it lagged like i was sucking all of the gamers lag to my computer. Also, that computer was able to do the special stuff, like blood and bulet holes. My new one does not alow that, but is able to get rid of the border.

In other words, use the smallest screen setting possable for that game, and it should go faster.

I use a laptop and currently infrequently get lag. However i do not have effects like blood and bullet holes very clearly. I also believe that I am running at 800 x 600 res. So am I missing much ? I play Halo 1 regularly in multiplayer mode. I dont really care to win the campaign too much.
