This is great information - saved thread

I'm not really sure why you need to save the thread, saying as it's a pinned topic, but okay.

Also, I decided to create a Bungie.net that has absolutely no link to my actual gamer tag, so that way I'm assured none of these could happen.

What happens than if they delete your windows live ID after changing the name and password, than move on to your xbox live profile than change the name, password, than permanently deletes it from the server?

No, I'm not a hacker, just that I got a threat of maybe a legit one yesterday, how would they get your email address and password?

/Thread Saved\ **He is a GENIUS!** All this is excellent advice, but I suggest getting an all-in-one internet security and firewall package. This stops keyloggers and other spyware on your PC and stops you being affected by them when on websites. Just remember - free Microsoft points ONLY COME FROM MICROSOFT! So if the site is not microsoft.com then leave it immediately.

They'd get it off phoney sites that pretend to give you Microsoft points, put a keylogger on your computer and get everything you type, or just be your friend and ask you. Tips: don't go on sites that give you Microsoft points that aren't microsoft.com; get a good firewall and anti-virus program; don't tell anyone your password. Ever. For any reason. Even if it's your family.

Your pressuming that up to date anti-spyware and internet security packages prevent ALL keyloggers and Trojans.

Fact is they only prevent about 90% of them, unless your rich and have a industry standard AV Package. Then surpose it's about 99% but still... A virus is impossible to fix/ID by the software until it's released, detected, the service provider makes a patch, releases patch and so on...

Quite a long process so you always will be under some threat.

I have every current Anti-virus program. Norton, AVG, Panda... the list goes on. Is that good enough?
