Highly unusual...

He died as if he hit a death barrier. He tried landing inside of the circle...it looks like. I'm not sure if he jumped rather than dropped when he went off the ledge...but the circle is slightly lower elevation, however, even if fall timer were the case, he died too high up for fall timer death unless he did jump.

...but if he did drop and die that way...hm...

I think the drop needs to be performed further away from the Chieftan. In the spot I used. I never even thought about the specifics on the spot, to be honest. I just chose it the first time around and managed to use it. Apology Dark. I should probably have tested around with the drops more.

I did not jump. I slowly lowered myself onto the ledge.

Such a strange technicality.

  • 09.10.2008 3:20 PM PDT

I found the Sierra 117 BR Glitch!!!
SLASO, haven't completed

-sign-
whenever i get to the first phantom, the ghosts are coming up faster and faster each time i play to it(Which is every time now)
Does anyone know why this happens, i used to be able to take the brute out also, but he drops into the building now :(

oh and in the first building i noticed everybodys technique is diff.
i stick the group
head left
kill the jackel on the step
backtrack
wait until either grunts or marines win
if grunts i exterminate
then i head to the next area
stick the 2 brutes
then position the warthog on the upper railing and open the door
wait
go to first lakebed

Hurrah!

I found a loop that leaves a Hunter unable to retaliate against me.

On the Ark???

  • 09.10.2008 6:30 PM PDT

In general, though the cover on the Ark will actually help me keep it a 1 vs. 1 fight. The great thing is that on C.L.A.S.O. one of the Hunters can be distracted so I can make sure I don't get blasted by while I am killing one.

I killed both Hunters on the Storm in just under 1 minute and 30 seconds.

I'm thinking of making this video a tutorial-style video to help spread Hunter awareness. In other words, I'm going to point out specifics when it comes to fighting Hunters.

Even though I am new to this thread, I've always been a major fan of slaso runs, speedruns, no death runs, and just about any type of run there is. On the level "Halo", there are 2 jumps you can make using a fuel rod cannon that are pretty simple to do, and surviveable on slaso. They are used in a legendary speedrun video on youtube, as well as the infinite laser glitch to help with killing the flood. (LINK)

This wasn't found by me, but I thought I'd share it with you guys. It should help those people just starting slaso alot. Although you won't have shields, they are easily regained by using one of the many regenerators that will be lying around after you laser all the flood. This method helped me complete my 2nd ever slaso level. My first level was "Floodgate".

That was unbelievably hard, even though it was the easiest level. I'm pretty sure I had to restart around 70 times. This is mainly because I like just rushing in rambo style =D. I'm probably going to put off doing any other levels. I don't want to do any slaso til au2, just in case. And because the marines on "The Storm" make me want to drown kittens >_<

the man above me speaks the truth. since there's so much ark hype right now i decided to try it. on one run, i was able to save five marines in the prowerler area. FIVE! two of them took off on mongooses without any passengers. the other three were in my prowler including a rocket guy. suddenly, all three of them jump out for no reason at all! while i tried to get them back in, a chopper came up and killed all but one. with that one marine i was able to make it all the way to the place just outside the aa wraith area. you know, where the brute with the fuel rod gun is? i got flanked by a pair of ghosts. i died in that area three times in a row for the same reason. do you guys have any advice? i watched star's and vincint's ark videos but it seems like luck was really on their side with the ghosts in that area. is there a solid method for that place?

thanks :)

I still like my method for the second area. Allowing the Hunters to come quicker and getting the remaining enemies to retreat to the hillside. The four of us should be able to easily pick them off, particularly since the Elites all have beam rifles. Then he can just 'nade the Hunters so they dive off the side.

For that bit. I like to use the Rocket Launcher to destroy the Ghosts. Then use the PP dropped by one of the Grunts to take out the Brute with FRG then kill him with the BR.

That's what I'm saying, though. Unlike the other times where I tried, Hunter 1 cannot retaliate. As long as Hunter 2 is preoccupied with shooting at someone, he can't come to the aid of Hunter 1, who is getting bludgeoned to death. And it's about 10x easier when all the Brutes can't shoot at me because they're up on the hill.

I'm not saying I want to use what I found for the Ark. But on the Storm, between Starocean and I, we both have a way of dealing with the Hunters relatively fast.

Right now I'm just waiting on the video. It's taking a while to load.

wait so the ghosts dont try to dodge the rockets? seems like it would be tough to land the shot.

so how do you stay alive while they're hosing plasma at you? or when both come at the same time? that's usually what gets me.

Normally, If you hide behind a rock. They go boosting past, then they stop and try to turn around. Thats when I get them, and when you blow one up the second one drives off.

it seems like a chopper would be easier anyway because you don't have to make such a strong effort to keep your marines from doing stupid things.
