You guys are awesome. I tried for a joke Sierra 117 on S.L.A.S.O and failed miserably within seconds. It really is tougher than it looks, and the skull that completely turns off the HUD really is impossible.

And now you have the videos to help you get through it :-)

The OFFICIAL walkthrough will soon be up on BUNGIE.ORG.

I guess that all depends on what your intent is. There is no tangible achievement to gain. You get two things for achieving SLASO.

1) Satisfaction of completing the game on the hardest setting, something less than 10 people in the world have accomplished in full.

2) You make the list in the Original Post of this thread.

Good to hear. I highly recommend starting with Floodgate as it is by far the easiest mission.

If you watch my video in the OP, it'll help you get past that first area. The Magnum isn't much of a starting weapon.

Well, here's some interesting news. I started back at the beginning of Tsavo Highway, brought a Warthog through to that battle. I pretty much spent the entire time up on the overpass in the turret, focusing my fire on one Brute at a time. Eventually the last Brute with the FRG runs over by where the Marines were. I go over to the left side of the overpass and get to where I can see him and use my signature long range Plasma Pistol shot. It connects and I unleash a volley of BR ammo.

So, the first Phantom eventually shows up. Back to firing at enemies. Second Phantom.

...then the Pelican eventually shows up, and chaos begins. All the Brutes (including 2 Chieftans) let loose. The second Pelican was waiting for the first to drop off a Warthog, and I was just watching it get hit with FRG, Carbine, and Brute Shot.

And after the Pelican leaves and the Warthogs are destroyed, something weird happens. Every enemy decides to stand around no matter how much gunfire they're under from the chain gun. One of the Chieftans stood perfectly still for a Plasma Pistol shot followed by a volley of gun fire.

I eventually got down to one Chieftan and three Brutes. Killed off the Chieftan, a Brute. Two left. I start repositioning my Warthog, get out, shoot a Plasma Pistol shot, and then the Wraith shows up ridiculously late.

So, I'm actually thinking if we bring two Warthogs and two Choppers, this entire area won't be so bad.

Sounds like a pretty solid plan to me!

I'm thinking same time tomorrow. 1pm EST.

Watch my video :-) Bring as much healing equipment as possible. Collect the plasma rifles they drop if they die near you. Stay away from the glass to avoid splash damage. Make sure you're full on grenades as well. Also, stay near the door.

  • 09.14.2008 6:27 AM PDT

Random note: There are 6 Jump-pack Brutes. If you find them walking around with their weapons put away, you can usually land an unguided PP shot on one before he manages to pull out his weapon.

By the way. Is it normal for the Scarab on The Ark to climb up onto the rock I shoot from? Happened to me today and unloaded Hell on my Scorpion.

It does sometimes, very rarely though.
