So I was messing around on the Storm while I was half asleep last night, to kind of see a comparison of how much faster I can do things compared to when I originally did it.

Well, I was going through a lot faster. Then something funny happened after I killed the A.A. Wraith. Those two Banshees come and I figure...why not? They keep swooping down at this Warthog near me, I'm going to Plasma Pistol them.

So I Plasma Pistol one, and it comes crashing down. I stick it with a Plasma Grenade.

Then I get the other one and I miss my throw. I try to throw again, thinking I might have a Spike Grenade but it was just a Frag. So I charge up the Plasma Pistol and shoot it as it is boosting off the ground trying to get in the air. The shot lands, and the Banshee does a quick flip before dropping like a brick over the cliff.

lol. Well now that you've actually done it, the pressure is off, so you'll find yourself taking more risks than you did before which will ultimately shorten your time. Take Pahat for example. It's not that he's just so naturally good at campaign. He's just done it enough times to where it's almost second nature. Same thing happened to me once I beat the first two Halo games on Legendary. The more I did it, the easier it became and the less time it took.

Loose talk is noose talk.

So what do you guys think the new skulls are actually going to do?

Nothing campaign related. Again, they'd have to revamp the actual campaign, and there's no way that would fit on a regular 360 hard drive. The campaign maps are more than 50 times the size of MP maps. So if they have effects on anything at all, it will be the new MP maps.

  • 09.18.2008 4:50 PM PDT

Just a little random thought: where are these new skulls going to be?

I mean, think about it. When you pick up a skull in Campaign, you can use it. If they're on the new maps...always there...you could pick them up during a game of, oh say, Slayer, and use it.

So that's the only thing that comes to mind in relation to a skull being on the multiplayer maps...it just seems a little strange. I don't imagine they could fit it on a Campaign map now.

I'm sure they've got something in mind that I haven't considered. Like you get a "Press RT" message when by it, and you can actually pick it up but it unlocks.

As for what I think it will do...I don't know. There are six additions, right? The skull menu really only has enough room for two more, so that to me says they won't be Campaign related.

I remember a few times where I got mildly annoyed. I think the most annoying to me are the following kind of deaths or inconveniences, in order of most to least annoying:

- Death completely out of your control and not a result of your allies/enemies.
- Run over by an ally.
- Hit by a rocket from an ally.
- Grenaded to death by an ally.
- Stuck by an Elite ally.
- Death to fall timer because the Scarab pulls back at the last second.
- Ally destroys a vehicle you want, when you're close enough that the explosion damages you.
- Ally destroys a vehicle you wanted because they were aiming at something nearby and missed. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Marine with Laser.
- Ally shoots a corpse that is right next to you, resulting in you either getting hit because you walked in the path, or a stray bullet detonates a grenade next to it.
- Ally won't get in the vehicle/gets in the wrong spot.
- Ally attempts to assist you against a berserking Brute with a grenade...after you killed the Brute with a melee to recharge your shields, causing you to lose them all over again.

Hmm...I've been following this thread for quite a while now. Haven't been able to try SLASO yet, but I want to.(Would kind of help to have a 360; working on getting a job, but with the economy in disarray like it is now it's kind of hard)

One question. I noticed that once in awhile you(Tyrant) would fire 2 shots of your PP, whats the point of that?

Lol. I'm guessing he fires it in between a fight or during a brief respite where he is in cover. He's checking which weapon he has out and if it has ammo.

I myself can tell which weapon I am holding based upon the noise it makes when I take it out...except the Carbine. For that, I have to zoom in with the scope, since it makes a specific noise.

Awesome, and I stronly encourage you to try. Usually when I shoot off two PP rounds, it's to check whether or not I have any charge left in it. Usually you get three or four charged shots out of a used plasma pistol. Sometimes I lose count. Other times I hold down the trigger for an extensive amount of time while attempting to land the shot. As you know, now, charging the plasma pistol results in steady depletion of the battery.

Ahh thats what I figured. I thought that someone who knows the levels that much should know the sounds of most if not all weapons.

He does. The Video's on the main page are for a walkthrough. So he is showing in-experienced SLASO'ers what to do and how to do it.

In an attempt to give each player alternate routes, I will also be adding more "Kamikaze" style video snipits as well. Just like the one for the Motor Pool. More than likely I will also do the last battle on the Ark without glutching the Chieftain (since that's how I did it the first time), and a few others as well. I also have quickers ways of dealing with Crow's Nest's Jump-Jet battle, the Scarab on The Storm, and a few others as well. All are riskier but considerably shorter.

I'm going to be doing The Ark SLASO tonight.

For the final area. Is it a good idea to use Hammer + Carbine combo to kill the last Brutes?

  • 09.19.2008 12:58 PM PDT

Nice, that's one habit I'm going to have to break. Taking risks. Whenever I play Halo Legendary I seem to do pretty well, at least until I go in the open lol.

Personally, I prefer to pick them off one at a time with the Plasma Pistol and BR. The ones with Plasma Rifles seem to come closer and/or end up becoming ridiculously predictable. I recall one of them kept using his jetpack to jump a few feet up a ramp only to turn around and walk back to where he was standing before doing it again.

But to each his own. I'd only be concerned about the Brutes with the Brute Shots, seeing as it only takes about three hits from it to kill you. Of course, the Brutes with Plasma Rifles will deplete your shields which could give the Jackals a perfect shot at you. If you've practiced fighting it out that way and it's worked multiple times (I'd say 5+. I made sure I could play through Rally Point Bravo without dying a total of 5 times), go for it.

A good amount of my time is spent during a level surveying the area I'm going through and counting enemies, checking their weapons...to quote Sun Tzu...

“Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.”

wow. funny how someone with absolutely no slaso activity can claim to know the definitition of "mythic". you do realize that Tyrant was the one who coined the word "mythic" in terms of campaign difficulty right? i think what he says is mythic is actually mythic.
