Personally, I'm not a fan of kamikaze runs in any way. If you have to rush, it only hurts you more when you get to a situation you can't rush. Besides...how many times out of 10 does the kamikaze run on the Ark work?
The one in the beginning works for me all the time.

Jew, did you watch my The Storm run? What did you think?

I need to check and see if Tyrant's doing anything different for that bit just to make sure we're thinking of the same kamikaze run.

Good luck. Start with Floodgate if you find the other ones hard.

I'm a great guy really.

Still stuck the storm, though i only do like 5 tries per few days because of limited time... that probably doesnt help as I get a bit further each time then i gotta go out and the next day I'm bad. But i cant seem to keep any of the marines, if not just maybe 1 or 2, alive for the first lake, if i manage 2 get the brute in time and take the wraith most the marines are dead by then... any suggestions on keeping as many alive as possible please?

As I usually die due to the grunts and jackals running over and grenading me because the marines are useless, or the ghosts only focus on me so i cant shoot them. thanks

It's the exact opposite for me. I always have 4+ Marines when the first lake bed is clear.

It all depends on how you go about things. I kill the Wraith the moment it comes down, then go back to help.

Ah I'll try that, because usually is tikc with the wriath then i see the grunts and jackals are still alive and charging me. Next time I'll try running back to keep them alive, but trying not to get hit by ghosts

I only watched up to the Hunters. And it was good. Faster than my original run.

Thanks. Good thing you only watched up to the Hunters, the rest was really boring =)

So I am noticing something really interesting on Crow's Nest and am very, very surprised we didn't notice this before.

You can highjack a Phantom and fly it straight to The Ark.

The Motor Pool fight...why are we so quick to attack when we're outnumbered...?

Do you recall the level Uprising in Halo 2? In the very beginning, if you stealthily eliminate the patrols, the Brutes eventually come to investigate.

So that's what I'm doing.

The Chieftan tells them to "flush it out". If you watch, they'll start walking around, searching. I've assassinated the two searchers...and the Captain is standing around and waiting. I wonder if he'll grow impatient...?

Someone get the ghost. I call warthog driver. We need someone to get the laser before the other team does. I need a gunner. . . . . No wait- . . . . I NEED A GUNNER . . . . oh . . never mind. I'll just splatter people. <"SPLATTER SPREE">

I don't think he does.

Highjack a phantom? How? You can get in them, but I didn't think you could drive one.

Yeah man! It's amazing. They fly really fast.

I never realized the Motor Pool fight could be so one sided. I'm holding my own without using a Plasma Pistol. Assassinating just one Brute lets me kill the other. Then stick the Captain. Then at least one Bodyguard comes to look for me, I stick him and secure a Regenerator.

Nice one Vince the Ninja =)

  • 10.20.2008 2:42 PM PDT

Some of the times I can assassinate both Brutes who are searching and the Captain. It's odd that I can walk right around him and get away with it.

Vince - I am having problems with the Hammer Jumps on Halo (the level). I watched your video, but apparently I am doing something wrong. Can you give me some details about your method? From what I can tell, you put your back towards the place you want to jump towards, then jump backwards and hit the hammer when you are about half way up on your jump?

Yes? No?

  • 10.20.2008 3:11 PM PDT

Hey guys. Just want to let you know I'm still around. Haven't been able to play since no 360....still. However my friend was over the other day and we played The Ark CLASO (just 2 players). Didn't go too well since he's not really...err tactical I guess. That and kind of impatient. Still only have Floodgate done, but hey that's pretty good for not having an Xbox lol

Hey Tyrant, just wanted to say thanks. I've been struggeling with this for a bit but your vids and walkthroughs helped no end!!! I've only gotten four done so far but because of your help I've got the basics in place so finnishing the whole thing is just a matter of time. :) Thanks again

bdw, I've got the vids in my file share, I did a few things differently so if your having trouble they might help (especialy with that damn hammer jump, I've figured out how to be able to do it a few times).

It's these kind of things that are really hard to put in to context, but yeah. Due to the way the Gravity Hammer works, if you jump forward and swing you kind of counteract your own inertia. If you jump backwards and do it, you get pushed further.

As for the timing...it's a lot of trial and error, like finding the correct facing, which is made all the more difficult by the fact there isn't much to use on the ground to know where to stop.

I kind of approached that edge so that I was in a straight line with one of the lines on the slope, and looked over the edge. Then I move the sight up so I'm not looking straight down, but at an angle. Run straight backwards about four steps, jump, and swing. If I find I'm not immediately being held up, I start angling the analog stick to the left to make sure I land on the ground and not just barely slipping off the edge. If I don't make it, I can base my next jump and timing off of my footprints.

I'd recommend practicing it on Easy difficult with just Blind on. That way you can skip straight to practicing it. Try and be able to do both jumps five times in a row. Alternatively, if you're feeling a bit daring, you could try the ]Fuel Rod Jump.

What is your strategy for the hammer jump? Can you give me a walk-through? I have seen it in videos, but I cant replicate it. I am either hitting the hammer too soon or late, or jumping backwards to far. I am not sure, but I am not even close....

It takes a real person to restrain themselves.

You guys seem to know all about the the stuff that blind skull takes away, like what grenade you have, what happen you have out and when it is done reloading/needs to reload, I can't hear that because of my intercooler. Is that a detriment? (I need all the help I can get)
