I decided I'm going to tackle Halo SLASO, instead. I got bored with Cortana.

Also, I suggest not hammer jumping, cause then you will most likely be surrounded. Plus I prefer The Brute Shot jump. Seeing as you can double it, and even triple it.

This is true, but bare in mind that on SLASO, the Black Eye skull prevents your shields from recharging unless you melee. Brute shot jumping only works with full shields. Even then, once you've done it, you'll be shieldless. With hammer jumping, your shields are uneffected ;-)

A trick you can use in crows's nest with the motor pool is to push johnson into the area, push him onto a good weapons, and then headshot him, he'll come back to life, usually picking up the more powerful gun.
You can keep pushing him all the way to just the bomb, then he stays there. His presence at the pelican seems to screw up the other johnson's script, causing both to remain, and the pelican stays as well.

Be careful with that.

If the marines or eltes sense that you're going rampant, they'll kill you in one shot.

The man speaks the truth. What I did was *push* 5 or 6 Marines into the corridor just before the Motor Pool. You can do this without meleeing them. They'll just throw awkward comments at you :-)

That was for anybody, not just Ty. And congrats on completion.

And I kow what you mean with the Chopper, it can shoot faster if you press it rapidly. I can take on(or take down) a Hornet with that technique.

The Ark is by far the most difficult in my opinion. No shortcuts, just brutal battles.

lol. You shouldn't be playing Sierra 117 first. Floodgate is far easier. Then do the Halo level.

  • 06.11.2008 6:11 PM PDT

Agreed. Floodgate and Halo are by far the easiest of them all.

Just finished completing my fifth level on SLASO. I now have:

Sierra 117
Tsavo Highway
The Storm
Floodgate
Halo

All can be viewed on my fileshare.

I'm having a lot of difficulty getting past the hangar in Crow's nest as brutes somehow manage to shoot through the floor and kill me :P

Cortana is ridiculous, and I've tried the -blam!- strategy by running past everything but everytime I get close to halfway through the level, about 4 or 5 tank forms appear out of nowhere and I can't get around them. Plus, for whatever reason, the sword NEVER one shot kills them. I slash them once and then get raped.

The Ark and The Covenant are easily the hardest two levels, espescially the Covenant. I'm saving them for last, lol.

Nice job on the five levels!

Here's a few tips for you. On Crow's Nest hangar, bare in mind that there is a second floor with tons of BR ammo. The Covenant won't typically come up there, so not only will you have height advantage, but also lots of ammo. Be sure to take out the Grunts first and save the Brutes for last.

Whenever you encounter Tank forms on Flood levels, run like a mo-fo! As mentioned in earlier posts, these guys are near invincible (like Hunters) on Mythic difficulty. Even if you manage to bring one down, that's valuable ammo that can be used elsewhere. Just like Hunters, you can usually run around them pretty easily. Save that Sword for taking out the lesser Flood that stand in your way.

Remember, Brute forms and Stalkers are extremely suseptiple to melees from just about any weapon. All other Flood should be avoided completely.

That's one of the reasons why if you're using bungie.net polls to collect any kind of real data, you're completely insane.

Hey Tyrant do you have any suggestions for Sierra 117? I think its hard enough on legendary because all you start with is an AR and a pistol (which isnt the best combo for killing brutes when you have tilt and mythic skulls on)

Yes.

You will also start out with a pistol and will only need it to get through the first area. This is the best way to dispatch the Grunts. For the Brutes, use the plasma pistol to take away their shields and armor causing them to "berserk". They'll charge you at this point. Take advantage of this and assassinate them after they take a swing. Arbiter will also be a big help in this area. If he "faints" then swap out your pistol for the carbine. In the next area where the first carbine Jackals show up, there will be a crate of carbines. If you don't already have on at this point, swap out your pistol for it. Remember to take out the Jackal snipers first, then the Grunts, then the shielded Jackals, and lastly the Brutes so you can get those easy assassinations.

If you do it just once it shouldn't cause any problems, but if you don't do it, johnson doesn't seems to fire back at the enemy. Even when he's just firing with his pistol, he's a menace.

Hmmm... I've never followed through with the Johnson tactic before, but I have thought about it. Only issue I had was every time I got him close to the corridor, he would just take off running towards the bomb.

Wait a minute. Did I just say "Johnson tactic" and "towards the bomb"?
