If you have completed a few of the levels you still qualify as a 'noob contender' but you still have to do all the levels in one week. (even if you've already done some of them)

Ok thnx, I'll have a look tomorrow. Anyone else have tips/tricks on this? :-)

Bring a Bubble Shield, get to the area with the Marines A.S.A.P., and when you hear Johnson start saying "Both A.A. Wraiths have been neutralized", there should be a Marine who goes to your nearest Missile Pod...make him get off of it and then walk away. He shouldn't touch it anymore...when the Scarab comes down, wait roughly five seconds, or at least until the enemies stop shooting at the Marines.

Then rush to the Missile Pod, but don't start firing for around a second or two, in which you should guide your view to where the back armor is centered. Then spam your trigger. Most importantly, if you see the A.A. Gun pointing at you and a flash of light from it, get off the turret and drop the Bubble Shield.

But to make the back fall off you actually have to shoot it on the back right or will spamming it wherever work?

EDIT: sry for double post

Pretty much what he said. Even if you've done of couple of missions already, the contest requires you to do all nine missions within seven days, so you would just do the ones you've already done over again.

Halo 3 Mythic Difficulty (logo design by Vincent K)
Team Mythic (taken by Tyrant)

Take the "Mythic Challenge" Today!

Having trouble passing the time? Don't know what to do until the Mythic maps are released in 2009 or the new Halo 3 campaign experience hits shelves next Fall? If you're as much a fan of campaign as I am, allow me to suggest taking your current game to the next level. That's right. Of course I'm speaking of Mythic Difficulty.

What exactly is Mythic difficulty? Completing the campaign on Legendary all skulls on with zero deaths and zero saves. For the sake of the walkthrough, this is typically performed solo rather than on co-op.

My Halo 3 Mythic Walkthrough (solo legendary all skulls on) is now available to view on HBO's website. This guide includes a text-based walkthrough of each segment of all nine missions and contains videos of all critcal areas. Of course the full length videos are also available for download from GameVee, and all nine videos will remain on my file share. A special thanks goes out to Louis Wu for not only hosting the walkthrough on his site, but also for all the hard work he has put into cleaning up my Mythic guide mess and turning it into something legable XD We will be releasing the missions one week at a time. The full walkthrough will be available for all to see in the weeks to come.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank GameVee for going vastly out of their way, above and beyond, to post all nine full-length missions on their site for your convenience. While the walkthrough on HBO is by far the best and most in-depth method in terms of a "complete package" and contains videos of all critical areas throughout the campaign, the GameVee videos are also there in case there's a segment you'd like to see that wasn't included in the video-portion of the walkthrough, yet you are already in the middle of a mission and don't want to exit out to view the file share run in theater mode. The above GameVee link will take you directly to all of my full Mythic runs. Thank you, GameVee, for supporting the Mythic community!!! :-)

And now I give you...

FAQ

Q. What is Mythic??
A. Solo Legendary All Skulls On. SonicJohn's Project LASO community refers to this as SLASO.

Q. What is the difference between Mythic Difficulty and SLASO?
A. Not much. However SLASO simply defines the game as being played solo legendary all skulls on. Mythic, however, states that there must be zero deaths and zero saves per mission, thereby making Mythic a far greater and more specific challenge. The same rules apply to co-op in the sense that no player may die in order to successfully complete the mission on Co-op Mythic.

Q. Is there any special ending for beating the game on Mythic?
A. No. It's the same as the Legendary ending. I imagine the people who would've been able to witness a Mythic ending would have been too few for such an effort. Bungie knew this.

Q. Do you get any new armor for beating it on Mythic?
A. No. You do not unlock anything simply for beating the game on Mythic. That is unless you have yet to beat the game just on Legendary in which you would obtain the normal achievements associated with it.

Q. Do I have to have the silver skulls on for it to count as Mythic?
A. Yes. All skulls means ALL skulls.

Q. Can I have a friend help me complete the game on Mythic?
A. Well then it wouldn't be solo Mythic now would it?

Q. Do you have to turn on campaign scoring?
A. I've decided to update this to cause less confusion. In a word... yes. While it doesn't effect game-play directly, it's the simplest way to prove your success to the rest of the world and is a requirement to become a member of the Quest for Mythic group.

Q. What are the "Kamikaze" videos?
A. A separate, speedier, and more skillful avenue for certain areas of the game. Just like the "Slow & Steady" methods, they have been tested multiple times and are proven to work. However they do require excellent reaction time, a vast knowledge of the road ahead, and a fair bit of experience with Mythic.

Q. Why was I rejected from your group?
A. Simply put, read the rules. 99.9% of the time, it's because you haven't completed a Mythic level with scoring on and uploaded it to your file share. This must be done in order to gain acceptence into the Mythic group.

Alright, I was getting annoyed at Cortana again so I checked Pahat Pojat's File Share and saw he did Tsavo Highway in 6:55 so I watched the film and was totally amazed. I'm gonna check out his Cortana film next and I bet it's as insane as Tsavo.
So my only question is: Does anyone actually know how he does that crazy stuff?

Haven't a clue. But he's been doing it for awhile, though. I'm sure if people do that kind of thing enough, they just grow a knack for it.

EDIT: Though my advice is to not switch around missions too much. Particularly ones as different as Tsavo Highway and Cortana. Yes, it's frustrating to die closer to the end, but you will get there eventually. Patience is key. What is the furthest you have gotten so far?

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I'm in Stockholm, a couple of lightyears away from Gothenburg, where I live. I probably won't be on as much here and I obviously won't be on LIVE lol. However, I still have acces to all the stuff required to do the kamikaze guide. No microphone but I don't think it will be needed so much.

I know no one is looking forward to it at all, but I do, and maybe if I don't fail totally, it can help others a bit.

What weapon are you using to do it? The battle rifle is by far the best choice for you at that point in the mission. Have you checked out the Sierra 117 walkthrough yet?

Use the BR and don't leave that ledge until they're both dead. Check the walkthrough to see if there is a relevant video.

Yeh, ive used your film, the walkthrough and jew's film but i cant seem to do it. I've also tried the br and the carbine but i still cant get them since its hard to see where your br shots are going, but carbine is less accurate. May go over the walkthrough again though incase i missed soemthing.

I recommend against the Carbine. Even when you're landing perfect headshots, it seems to take several to kill the ranged Jackals. That's not a risk you should take with the sniper variants or even the Marksmen.

Furthest I've got so far would be the second time in the Projector room, I've managed that about 5 times and otherwise a Tank form in Hell's Hallway slows me down by flinging the crate of Carbines I jump on across the room or Ranged forms get me straight after collecting Cortana.
The annoying thing is that I started a checkpoint after rescuing Cortana and managed to pull the entire thing off from there so I know I can do it. Also it seems quite random which Flood have weapons and which ones don't.

Oh and thanks for having confidence in me, talking to people who've already done Mythic really keeps me sane while I try this.

Battle Rifle. And do not run out at all. Stay behind cover and try to see where they are, that's the only thing you need to know, as long as their position is revealed, they are a bit easier. Watch Tyrants video, or download mine and see if it helps.

Btw, when they shoot twice after eachother, they will be disabled for some second.

When doing mythic what button layout is the best?

That's a matter of preference. I've used default controls for Halo 3 ever since playing the Halo 3 Beta...granted I do switch to an inverted y-axis.

I done co-op legendary on the ark and with the 1st 2 hunters we decided that we were going to hit them to death so we eventually got them to come to us and i had 1 near the cliff edge and i kept meleeing it until it fell of i hit it about 20 meters away and the other 1 just jumped of the cliff itself.

Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

Well I've finished both Floodgate and Halo on Mythic and both will be on my fileshare soon (damn map pack downloads). Halo was a nightmare though. The grav hammer jump set me back a lot and when I managed to get up to the driving sequence, it was the one in a million things that stopped me from reaching the end. Driving off a ramp just to have a platform blow just as you land on it sucks and getting stuck on the side of the few 3 way driving hallways sucks as well. Also, what would you guys recommend for my 3rd Mythic run. Considering my favorite level is The Covenant, I'm thinking of doing that one, but it's both a very long level and hard as well so I'm having doubts.

Personally, I think Tsavo Highway is the easiest after Floodgate and Halo but some people say Cortana is easier because it's a flood level. Another possibility is The Storm. Just depends on what you find easier.

I had tons of trouble with Cortana in regular Legendary as it was. I guess it's probably because I had to kill practically everything so that I wouldn't be killed, and speed and evasion weren't exactly my priorities. I decided to run through Halo again, turns out dying and going restart mission records everything including deaths prior, so now the fileshare uploads will be my solid, no-death runs.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I have only completed two SLASO missions but this thread has given me a huge appreciation for the Campaign. I play Campaign all the time by myself just to get Campaign Kills.

I've been working on The Covenant, managed to get 35mins in the Citadel, but the Sword Flood killed me. Was quite annoying.
