You could do the Johnson BR trick on the Arbiter for his carbine. You'd have to use a pistol bullet though.

Which isn't allowed so that's a bit messed up :-p

Here's a challenge, complete Mythic without firing any weapons. You can only use grenades, melee, marines/aArbiter/Johnson and vehicles. I guess I'll let you use the sword/hammer as a little bonus.

On Sierra 117 you start with a Assault Rifle and a Pistol. There is no way you can kill any enemies in the first fight. Unless you rely on the Marines/Arbiter to clear the first fight for you. So at least you can grab a Plasma Pistol for the Brute. But the Grunts could still kill you with there Grenades or Plasma Pistols/Needlers. You'd have to rely on the Arbiter/Marines a lot in the first few fights.

I don't see much of a problem. I made it all the way to the Jackal Forest on my second run of Sierra 117. I was low on Carbine ammo, but the area is filled with it. I lost track of a ground level sniper who should have killed me with the first two shots, but he missed and somehow shot the second one between my legs. There was too much brush in the way so I couldn't even see him.

I'll give it another try later. But the first fight isn't so bad. I just stay out of it until the Brute and Grunts are dead, take a Plasma Pistol and Brute Shot and continue.

In that case, I guess it cannot be that hard. I'll try it myself tommorow.

I have unexpected company at the river. The Marine Sergeant from the area prior survived the ordeal and the following fight. I've given him a Carbine and he's actually been slightly helpful. Maybe if he's really lucky, he'll make it with me to the Sniper Forest......well, probably not.

He made it all the way to the portion where the Brutes, Grunts, and a Sniper are waiting around the corner. He went with the Arbiter to attack them and well...you know. He's not the Arbiter, so he died.

I made it to the area prior to the dam, around to the Pelican, nearly got killed by a single Grunt who had been stuck down there and decided that it would be completely safe to throw grenades at an enemy within 3 feet of himself...

Was able to recover my shields by assassinating a Jackal, I drop a Bubble Shield to avoid the incoming Plasma Grenades, and I start back tracking when I get killed by a Plasma Grenade explosion. Apparently a Grunt had fallen off the area with the Brutes and was making his way around to get me anyways.

Oh well...I only would have had two Beam Rifles for the dam, and I don't think I could get through with just that.

Perhaps keeping the Sierra 117 marines alive could serve as another medal? :-)

Absolutely. Though it looks like I'll be reusing some of the ones from last month. None of the Conquerors finished successfully. lol.

Well once (if ever) I get started on some of the Covenant based missions I'll try and come up with some.

The pros and cons of the Arbiter using a Brute Shot on Sierra 117.

Pro: He can actually knock Sniper/Carbine Jackals off their perch or kill them for you in Sniper Forest.
The explosion from the Brute Shot can knock grenades off of their trajectory, possibly saving you from a stick.

Con: The Arbiter shot in my direction when I was trying to get a melee.
The Brute Shot may knock an enemy closer to your location.

Left 4 Dead on Expert is about as hard as beating Halo (The Mission) on Mythic. Which is surprising. The main challenge comes from Friendly Fire and Finales. A Finale is when 2 waves of Zombies rush you. And constant special infected. It requires constant team-work. You have 100 Health. Special Infected hit for 15~30 per hit. Zombies hit for 10. Friendly fire hits for 30. So you have to keep constant communication and its rather fun. Its like Quad Mythic on Halo/Floodgate. There is 4 Campaigns on it. So far I've beaten 2/4 with my friends. But Its quite a good challenge.

I'll get back to Mythic when I've beaten Expert. Pahat has a 13minute time of The Storm which I am going to aim to beat. I'll also continue trying to beat The Covenant for a Speedrun. And I'll start a Tsavo Highway speedrun after that. Then I will try some "different" runs.

Could you not give him the Brute Shot then cower behind the nearest rock which happens to be out of his range while letting him pulverise everything that moves? After that you could just go in and clean up anything still alive.

Not as easy as it sounds. He stays back all the time and when he gets hurt, he falls back for cover.

Good point. I noticed that myself when doing my Halo run, I sort of had to persuade him to fight whereas on Floodgate he saw some other Elites and ran in Sword swinging desperate to kill the Flood. Well maybe there's a different weapon he could use?

I've never needed him lol. So the Sword is good enough. He saved me from the Chieftain with it after all.

Floodgate or The Ark. I'd go for #1 personally. Or you can get the hardest done first.

but.. but the ark has got the scarab :S Wait I'll look at the tutorial. Any tips that don't occur in there? And how do you deal with the really annoying shooting flood?

I'm a great guy really.

Do floodgate, you may hate the fl;ood, but they are by far easier than covenant to kill on mythic.

  • 01.06.2009 3:23 PM PDT

Well, that's one done. Sierra 117 has been completed without sullying my hands with a human firearm. I even assassinated the Chieftain...does that count for Hamma-Jamma?
