Thanks, that was what I was looking for. I'll DL the film from your file share and see what position you take up.

There is a very easy way to board the Scarab though, I prefer that over the Sniper =)

Would that be Pahat's Grav Lift manoeuvre? Anyway boarding the Scarab would just involve fighting more Brutes and Grunts which I'd rather not do in such close quarters. I'd just prefer a long range takeout rather than getting up close and personal.

That's right. Plus, they're pretty confused up there so you can just assassinate the Grunts and stick the Brutes. If there's a Brute who can't see me, I just ignore him, shoot the core, melee someone, or the core if I have to, and then I just get off. I'd rather stay on it and kill everyone though. Kill! KILL!!! KILLL!!

EDIT: I didn't know that Pahat did it in his run. I watched his clip some time after I discovered this.

I watched Pahat's run a while ago simply because after seeing his insane Tsavo Highway run I wondered how long it would take for him to deal with a Scarab; obviously not long as I soon found out.

I wonder which way of killing the Drones is faster, my way or his way...

Hey guys, beat my first mythic level yesterday, Floodgate. No big deal, easy as hell level, but it's a start.

I also tried Halo after learning the jumps on easy. I turned on all the skulls and somehow managed it first try!

Problem was, I forgot to switch easy to legendary.

Floodgate's on my fileshare, should be linked to this account.

EDIT: Crap, I put my friend's beating of mythic Floodgate on my fileshare rather than mine, and now mine's gone.

How many more times can I fail! I'll go beat it again, just a minute.

EDIT2: Ok! On my share now.

After entering the first lake bed for the nth time (lost count) I've realised that my biggest problem is the Brute dropped off on top of the Sniper Rifle spawn. If my first two Plasma Pistol charges miss I have to move on lest the Wraith get set up. Unfortunately this means that the Brute proceded to use his Brute Shot to slaughter the marines before inspiring all of the other Covenant to chase me; so there I was clinging to the Wraith only for a barrage of Plasma grenades to land below the Wraith and blow me up.
I think it was one of my first non-marine related deaths.

Anyway what I'm wondering is: seeing as the Plasma Pistol charges are unpredictable at such a range is there a more efficient way to deal with the Brute or should I just keep trying and let a little luck enter the fray?

Not unpredictable. It's not like the Plasma Pistol changes course every time it is fired, it always goes in a straight line. You're just having trouble predicting the Brute's reaction to the shot; he can see you, he can see the shot, he will move, so you need to fire the shot where he will move instead of where he is currently standing.

Of course, I suppose the better question is why you aren't using the Ghost. It's so much easier to get rid of his shields and then leave the Marines to deal with him. You just need to make sure, whether he loses his shields or not, to not spend too much time shooting at him.

I have been working on the Mythic walk-through off and on for about three weeks and I'm able to get to the dam almost every time. There are some run-throughs where I'll be taking out by a sniper at some point but that is beside the point.

The problem I run into every time is at the end where the brute chieftain is with his mighty hammer of death. After viewing Tyrant122312's video I took out the two brutes guarding the chieftain so I do not have to worry about them but when I face the hammer brute I can't seem to kill him. I have fired full BR ammo into his head, snipped him with two covenant snipers and a full human sniper rifle, carbined him and grenade spammed him and yet he wont die.

Whether this is a glitch in the game or this brute is just that tough I'm not sure yet. I'll need to have a few more run-throughs against the chieftain to find out for sure but if anyone has any tips or tricks for quickly and safely defeating this beast I would really appreciate it.

Get on to a level area with him once it's safe. Forget about using Beam Rifles, Sniper Rifles, or Carbines on him. So long as his shields are down, your priority is to use the BR on him. It seems the helmet will only come off after about six bursts hit it and you shouldn't space out the time in between which. Just keep backpedaling and firing, aiming more for the top of the helmet instead of his actual face.

I know how you feel as this is my main problem on the storm i usually just skip past the brute and grunts but they end up following me to the wraith or when i do pass that part i try to take out the gurnts and jackels in the drone room with the wraith but my wraith always gets stuck by grunts and when i do pass that part and get to the scarab the marines don't hop on the turrets they stand right beside them causing the scarab to shoot them and the turrat gets destroyed. For some strange reason lately the marines have gotten sick of walking at the begining of the storm they go and hop in the other warthog and bring it through the door the problem is that i go in spam the grunts and jackels with my nades but all the marines are in the hogs so they don't go in there leaving me to BR all the grunts which often leaves me with no ammo left!!!

From the FAQ in the OP:

Q. What is Mythic??
A. Solo Legendary All Skulls On with zero deaths and zero saves. Each mission must be run from start to finish without dying, saving, or quitting.

It's the way to be.

Gazas-
You get your videos I sent you? Sorry it took so long. Recording thems not a problem, but getting them out is always an issue :P. Cant wait till I buy my own domain and just use that to distribute files...

As for other news, sadly I wont be able to participate much in this upcomming Monthly Mythic Challenge (again). As it turns out, my team got itself into the MLG 2009 pro circuit ladder and is headed for Meadowlands (no, not being the kid saying "zomg, i r gon b best mlg players ever and win big moneyz and go pro!!!" serious talk.), so most of my attention has to go that way. No need to worry though, I always have time for some crazy social action :D.

Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror #11
ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

Well after mucking around on the Ark, the furthest I ever got was up to the prowler area. A berserk brute got me cornered and beat me to death. Oddly enough I was alive for a good 6 seconds or so before I kicked the bucket.

I personally prefer the kamikaze method for the first 2 areas but I suck when it comes to the grunts and brutes at the top of the hill. Most of the time I either don't have a plasma pistol or I miss the overcharge. My main flaw is I take too long so I'm often getting blown apart by the brute shot brutes that follow you up the hill.

The only worrying thing for me now is now that I've gotten a taste for The Ark, I want to beat it really badly albeit it being practically the longest level and rather hard as well.

The reason Tyrant has Recon is because he made a walkthrough guide for Mythic Difficulty and completing Mythic does not get you Recon. Maybe you should read his sig or the OP.

You do realize that attempting it now is foolish, right? When you get to the Ark, don't practice the beginning. Practice from Rally Point Bravo until you can do it consistently without dying. Then worry about the rest. Being prepared for that last leg was what let me beat the mission the first time I got to the tanks.

Yes, you explained it better; it's the Brute I can't predict. Anyway seeing as you recommend the Ghost (and used it in your no Plasma Pistols run) I think I'll give it a try.

Oh and a few things about you no Plasma Pistols run through The Storm: Were my eyes deceiving me or did that Chieftain with the Hammer splatter himself with a box? And did you destroy the AA gun with a Magnum just for the sake of it or was there a reason, I mean why not just use the turret seeing as you get infinite ammo?

Right on about practicing the last area first. The Ark is one of those levels where making it all the way to the end, but suddenly not knowing what to do would sting more than dying on the room on Cortana because the Arbiter decided to BBQ the Chief.

Practice from Rally Point Bravo first. Once you have that down, practice from Rally Point Alpha. The reason why this method works for the Ark is because the Rally Point starting weapons are exactly what you'll be using throughout most of the mission (though you will be grabbing a plasma pistol at some point along the way). Worry about the beginning areas last, and I'd recommend doing the S&S method until you're more used to it. Some people do better with Kamikaze, but if you're having as much trouble as you say you're having, I'd ditch it for the simpler method for now. Survivability > Speed.

I'm a great guy really.

First attempt of sierra after month+ break, and got to the river 1st time, and died... what a surprise. Dont know why im struggling there so much, this time it was due to the marine somehow survivng to that point, only to get stuck stopping a plasma flying past me, instead the plasma flies towards me on the marine...
