Since so few have completed SLASO, they should have their own special userbar on b.net. They worked hard for it, and they completed it, and they deserve a reward (in my opinion).

To those of you who have actually beat the game via SLASO - you have my respect.

Just finished SLASO The Covenant on only my 3rd try! I admit, it did take me almost 2 hours to do, but I think it was well worth it. Now I just have to finish The Ark and I will be the 4th person to finish Campaign on SLASO!

  • 06.18.2008 5:29 PM PDT

I've started the SLASO as well, finishing Floodgate. The level is easy, but the frustrating part is when the Elites join you. I'm not sure whether this applies but with the catch skull on, they seem to throw a lot more grenades, and their targets seem to include anything and everything that moves. I seem to be part of the category as well. Many times they have accidently stuck me with a grenade that could not possibly have been intended for something else.

As far as the blind skull goes, it actually isn't much of a challenge concerning accuracy, but rather the disappearance of the health bar. I'm quite accurate even without the targeting reticle, but even the auditory shield warning is gone.

Good luck to everyone trying this. Hope to see you at the end.

Hopefully he gets unblacklisted soon so we can see this great thread again.

  • 06.18.2008 5:45 PM PDT

I concur on that. What was he blacklisted for?

  • 06.18.2008 5:46 PM PDT

Go Kansas Jayhawks!

I have Sierra 117 and Crow's Nest left.....Every time I get to the brute pack I always get killed by the carbine brutes, it is very frustrating.

  • 06.18.2008 7:31 PM PDT

I take back what I said before... The Ark is WAY harder than The Covenant, lol.

I am three levels away from beating the game on CLASO which those three are the last three which I am going to attempt one at a timet his weekend.

Believe me when I say its alot harder to beat it with friends then by yourself because I beat floodgate by myself and all I did was let the arbiter go in and rip it up.. i beat it in 55 minutes.

  • 06.18.2008 7:39 PM PDT

Go Kansas Jayhawks!

If the covenant took you two hours the ark will take you 4 hours.
lololololol

You get checkpoints in CLASO...you don't get checkpoints in SLASO...lol.

Thats really the only arguement you have in favor of Slaso.... Its really hard trying to keep 3 of your friends alive and keep their head in the game to finish something you started 3 hours ago..

Once again, When I beat floodgate.. all I did was let the arbiter run in there and i got on my pc for 8 minutes.. looked over, area cleared.. ok then i moved onto the next place. How frickin hard is that?

Try doing that on any level BUT Floodgate...and maybe Halo, that one's kinda easy too.

Basically any level in which you start with the arbiter is a walk in the park..

I'm sure your going to look down on me for this but who cares.. It took my friends and I (3 of us) 5 hours and 30 minutes on The Storm because of brutes with carbines and we all have weak shields and our ammo supply was extremely low. Took us 4 hours and 30 minutes to beat The ark on the same thing. I almost threw up afterwards because I was playing on an empty stomach or something. I just hope bungie views claso and slaso as basically the same degree of difficulty.

No, I don't look down on that at all. It probably would take a long time with a team, but checkpoints make it infinitely easier. CLASO is definitely very hard, but SLASO is the hardest Halo 3 has to offer.

  • 06.18.2008 10:16 PM PDT

Having a lot of difficulty on The Ark at the moment. The first two battles are very tricky, espescially the 2nd one, and the Hunters only make things more complicated. I can only get through those two areas about 20% of the time. Aside from that, most of the level is actually not that bad, save for the end parts. I got all the way to the room before the Cartographer last night but I got stuck in the room with two Brutes with Brute shots, panicked, took a risk and got killed. I think I can do it, but it might take a while.

  • 06.22.2008 5:00 PM PDT

Go Kansas Jayhawks!

Right now i am doing summer school and so i don't have too much time on my hands.
I keep on playing Crow's Nest and getting killed in the hallway with all the brutes. Any tips!!!

And congrats to making it all the way to the ark!!!!!

  • 06.23.2008 2:03 PM PDT

Yeah, that area's known as the motor pool and it strikes fear into the hearts of any SLASO players...

Basically what I did (which can be seen on my fileshare) is take 2 plasma pistols in the room with me, fire both off the start, then hide out where the dead grunt and truck are, and repeatedly come out the same way, fire one plasma pistol shot and back off after killing the brute. After killing all but the Chieftain, I use a grav lift to get some distance, plasma pistol him and then headshot him about 6-9 times for the kill. Be sure to not miss too much with the plasma pistols since you have just enough to take out all of them.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Good to see you've been unblacklisted. I will have finished SLASO Campaign very shortly. I came within inches of beating The Ark. I was down to only 2 Brutes in the final area where you get picked up by the Pelican. I focused my attention on one brute, the other snuck up behind me and brute shotted me. Won't be long though.

That has to be frustrating!

Here's a tip. When you're down to maybe two or three opponents in that final area, go back inside and hang out for a bit. The game apparently gets impatient and kills them for you.

Yeah it was. Although I have a much harder time with the Armor Chieftain, since it's nearly impossible to stick. I use the Firebomb grenades from the Brute stalker outside but it's still not enough to kill him. Meleeing him is risky, but works sometimes. Any other suggestions for dealing with him?

Tyrant can probably answer these questions better than me but he's been blacklisted again. I've beaten 8 out of 9 levels (All except The Ark) and I have all successful attempts on my fileshare, it you want to see how it's done.

In Sierra 117 after getting through the nest of Snipers, I will take one of the snipers into the next area with Johnson's crashed Pelican. There are usually 3 snipers in this area but sometimes one might not spawn. There will be one up high to the left. Down low in the middle and really up high to the right. Don't forget there are also two jackal carbines in the area too, one next to the middle sniper and one above the crashed pelican, if I remember correctly. After that, it's a matter of headshoting the grunts then plasma pistol + BR the Brutes.

In Crow's Nest, the best way to get through the motor pool is to take 2 plasma pistols in the room, shoot them both off when you get to around the truck, drop one and hide, switch to BR, if you see one of the brutes you shot, headshot him, if it isn't, stick him. After that, it's a matter of coming out behind the truck, shoot the plasma pistol, get a headshot and hide again, rinse and repeat. When it's down to just the Chieftain, I take a grav lift and get some distance, plasma pistol him, then it takes about 6-9 BR headshots to kill him.

In Tsavo Highway, in one of the earlier areas, you will have killed a Brute with a Fuel Rod gun. Take it and give it to one of your marines in the warthog and drive by the Chieftain with the Fuel Rod gun in circles and eventually the marines will take him out.

In The Storm, you don't even have to fight the drones, and you probably shouldn't since it's pretty risky. After jumping down from up high, immediately run for the switch, open the door and take cover. You shouldn't even get shot once.

In The Ark, what I do is after I take out the two Brutes and grunts, I hide behind a rock until the Prowlers come and when they come close enough to me, I shoot a plasma pistol shot at the gunner then headshot him. After that the driver is easy to kill. I don't move from the rock until both Prowlers are dead, then I kill the remaining Brutes. If you're lucky, you will have at least 2 marines survive the area to give you backup on a Prowler in the next area.

In The Covenant, a lot of strategy is required here. You need to make EVERY laser shot count. In the first area where you get dropped off, don't fire a single laser, take out all the grunts with headshots, even the ones on the Shade turrets and use grenades if need be. For the Armor Chieftain, you want to sneak up on him and assassinate him or engage him in a Melee war. They suck at meleeing so it's not too difficult to kill him there as long as you don't back enough too much. Then, you want to give your laser to a marine and have him blow up the banshees and ghosts in the next area. Then use TWO shots to take out the Wraith (These shots need to be perfectly aimed at the cockpit, or it won't kill). Then give the Laser back to the marine and have him take out the shade turrets and Prowlers (Hide behind the Warthog so you don't take any damage). At the bottom of the tower is invisibility. What you want to do is when you're at the top of the tower, kill 3 out of the 4 brutes, use invisibility, assassinate the Weapon Chieftain, then plasma pistol + BR kill the last one. If you kill all 4, chances are he will use his invincibility and you probably will need it for later. Finally, you'll want to use your last three laser shots on the Armor Chieftain.

In Cortana, I'm not 100% what you mean by drop area, but I think you mean the area near the beginning. What you want to do is quickly grab the bubble shield, turn around and jump on the ledge and hug the wall next to you, avoiding the Flood at the same time and stay near the wall and most of the Flood will usually miss you. I recommend you watch my successful attempt on this level more than any other. It's only 22 minutes long but it'll show you exactly what to do.

Hope that helps and hopefully I didn't steal too much of Tyrant's thunder, lol.

Yes, using the Arbiter as your meat shield equals survival.
