Considering that i don't Always have the luxury to play though the campaign while Online for several hours, the lack of proof i'm aware of. however i'm not doing this for recognition nor to join a club or group. This has been my challenge to myself for several months now. and i could use some help :P

I have checked the walk through, and it has been some help, however i tend to run out of plasma pistols before the chieftain aggros, is there any specific area thats its ridiculously easy to tag them with a charged shot (crates are one thing but i seem to run across a few who dont like to hide)?

I can tell you're a WoW player :-P lol. What mission are you talking about?

The drones before the battle give you access to almost unlimited PP ammo. If that is what you are asking. You can hang back, and if you don't pass the door, you can always run back for more. I would suggest checking the OP, and look at the Crows Nest guide, and watch the video for the motor pool.

Hey guys. Just checkin to see whats new.

What's new with me? Umm... Not too much. I ended up not getting time to finish Sierra like I planned. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend though. Ummm... I'm getting this cool Halo Wars standup from work, along with a sweet poster and a display box (like, it's 2 feet high). I could possibly get you guys posters or lanyards if you want...

My Astro A40's came in today, and wow are they nice. I highly recommend them to anyone. I'll get back to you with my status on Sierra. Maybe I'll blast through it today before I have to go to work...

Ummm... My birthday is next wednesday! I say we all get on that friday for some Social Big Team and have some fun and celebrate. I'll bring drinks.

Nice stuff. Happy almost birthday. Would I be ok to join in on the Big Team madness? I'm playing quite a bit of BTB at the moment and with friends is better.

Tsavo update: Was doing very well yesterday until a Grunt stuck me from a long way out. I couldn't even here the little ugly.

Mmm. I will definitely get on and play if you'll have me :) My birthday is the Wednesday after next.

My progress on the Storm seems to be failing hard. I guess it's try, try again. And a great deal of luck.

I'm still in the damn sun. Turns out I'll be home Saturday. =)

Good thing that my friend Shadow gave me some kamikaze clips of myself, so I can just watch myself go nuts.

Just tried Tsavo again but with a twist, this time I was playing Dual-Mythic with my brother. We made it to the first Chopper battle before a Grunt got me again. :-(
On a side note who else thinks the new site layout is little too different?

I think I'll like the new layout once all the bugs are fixed... It just gave me a notice saying new accounts can't make threads until 24 hours after creation or something... It will take some getting used to.

Nice new website design. I don't like the idea of the member titles being bolded though.

I was trying Floodgate backwards. Its hard but possible. I'll keep trying.

That's it! I couldn't put my finger on it but the bold Titles are kind of distracting and in your face.
On the other hand I do like the updated search bar, auto response feature and heatmaps.

As for the backwards thing if you pull Floodgate off we should make a medal for it in the next Mythic Challenge.

Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror #11
ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

I was mucking around on Crow's Nest a bit (for the achievement, not mythic. Annual is the last 1 for me now) and I noticed it's possible to headshot the 2 sniper jackals by shooting them so they recoil back and pinpointing their head through the railing that they're behind. Not sure if anyone uses it or if they consider it efficient or not, but tips are tips.

Maybe, but I'll be blunt here. The whole concept just seems a little ridiculous to me. That's just my opinion, though.

Well when watching it on the Bungie Faves it was ridiculous, Normal with deaths allowed? Not challenging at all or interesting to watch. I suppose that we'll have to see how it pans out with jew man man first before you consider anything like medals or inclusion into the monthly challenge though.

Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

I can only see Floodgate being practical backward. Even with that, seems a bit crazy. The only part of the campaign that would impress me backwards on normal with deaths allowed is Halo, driving backward.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my silly marines alive at the beginning of the Storm? Usually they die as I clear the first room. Then when when I go thin out the passage beyond, and go open the door, my marines can't get the job done. Then I'm left with a carbine brute tearing me up, and sometimes a ghost. Is there a trick I'm missing, or do I just fail.

I developed a tendency to keep all of those Marines alive. Check my file share for my Armed Conformist Storm run.

Ah thanks, the only full run I have seen of the storm was Pahat's speed run... Not very useful for me.

After the first room if any marines are still alive mae sure that you attempt to preserve them by going through to the catwalk where the Brutes are. Then use your BR to headhsot as many Grunts as possible before ducking back to avoid the grenade spam from the rest of them. Repeat that until the Grunts are dead because they are your biggest threat if left unchecked.

Next you should stick or Plasma Pistol/BR the minor Brutes as they alsp have a tendency to throw grenades and don't mind berserking on the marines. By the way I only recommend using the Plasma Pistol at this point if your brought in both of them from the area outside.
(Also if you take any damage from the Grunts in this area and there are still brutes around us the PP on one in order to make him berserk, then when he rushes you just duck out of the way and assassinate him for shields)

Then you should try grenading and BRing the Jackals if they are in your line of sight, if not don't worry as the marines and the Warthog will tear right through them.

After all the minor threats are eliminated (bar the possibility of a Grunt surviving and getting on a Ghost) you should let the Warthog roll through then remove the driver and park it in front of the next set of gates which your marines should be covering. Then you want to hit the switch and sprint back to the top level catwalk where the switch to the first gate was. From here you will have the joint advantages of height and distance in that you can see the heads of any Jackals despite their shields and that enemies will ignore you (which they'd likely do anyway seeing as the 'hog gunner should be giving them a hard time).
The Warthog's firepower should be enough to destroy all the enemy infantry and kill the driver of the Ghost too.

Finally from your vantage point on the catwalk you should be able to see if the second Ghost is active, if so I recommend going back to the other catwalk along the Ghost room and using the PP to jam it before either headshotting the driver or hijacking it for shields.
After all of this your marines (at least those in the Warthog) shoulod still be alive which increases your firepower and diversionary team for the next area.

If my description of areas has been somewhat vague you can see exactly what I mean from my run of The Storm which is on my fileshare. Good luck with your next attempt.

Yes we've had a makeover courtesy of Achronos and the Web Team. And I'm starting to like it now the bugs are gone.

Well I didn't actually think it was gonna be that long, it certainly didn't feel like half a page when I was writing it lol. I just hope it actually helps someone.

Steam

V-Day Massacre is a bit strange. I left my first game because my teammate quit on me. Then I went on to win 4 games in a row. But the first two games I won because everyone quit. I didn't go up any skill or exp. But the next game I won, I went up 3 skill and 2exp. The next game I won, I didn't go up any skill or exp. The following game I lost, I went from 3 skill to 5. Strange.

Nothing regarding Mythic to update.

  • 02.12.2009 12:56 PM PDT

I guess I can give a [not really] "vague" description of my method. I'll skip any mention of Plasma Pistols, as for all intents and purposes, they aren't needed for this portion [or at all, if you're up to the task].

Getting out of the Warthog, go head over to the Grunt corpse laying in direct sight to your right to pick up a Plasma Grenade. Awesome. Continue forward, hang a left after the second barrier and pick up the Battle Rifle. Head to the door, make sure to switch to your Plasma Grenade.

Once inside, head for the crate, hop on it and up to the walkway. Toss the Plasma Grenade in the middle of the four watching Truth's broadcast -- don't try to stick any of them. That will cause them to run away from the group which will reduce the amount of splash damage to the rest, and maximizing damage is more important. Don't wait for the grenade to go off, but immediately hang a left and start going down the ramp, putting a burst of BR ammo in to the Jackal's head. There is a slight pause in between the time the grenade goes off and he gets in to battle position and rushes up the stairs, so make the shot count.

Get moving down the ramp as soon as the Jackal is dead. If there is a Grunt near where he was (you'd be able to see him as you kill the Jackal) shoot him as you proceed down the ramp. From the corner, you have a pretty decent view of most of the Grunts. Kill them off, and don't be too cautious about your 10-o-clock. Any Grunt who comes out from the left side of the column will throw a Plasma Grenade. This normally would be very, very bad...but the Grunt seems to forget about the column, and he'll manage to stick himself on his arm. What a talented fellow.

If you don't see any Grunts, cautiously move out. If the coast is clear, keep your eyes on the back area and headshot the Grunts as they begin walking out. See if you can headshot them all without them retaliating. Once they're out of the way, and presuming you did this quickly enough, not all of the Marines will have come in to the room, and hopefully all four are alive. Open up the first door and let the Warthog in, gather your BR ammo and head up to the side passage, again remembering to switch to Plasma Grenades.

As you move slightly up in to view, immediately headshot as many Grunts as you can and avoid the incoming fire. They tend to be grouped up as you come out, so it is possible to kill that entire group. Take your time eliminating the stragglers, and eventually the Brutes will find their way to you. As they're climbing up, they won't have their Spiker out, so feel free to stick them with a Plasma Grenade. Pull back around the corner to avoid the splash damage and potential chain explosions. Once you feel that most of the Grunts are dead, and whether or not both Brutes are dead, go hit the switch and as quickly as possible get in the driver's seat of the Warthog, moving it up and angling it to the right to allow your passenger a better angle. This also gives you a much better position to reverse if need be, in the event a Grunt throws a Plasma Grenades.

Once that door starts going up, the Marines will let loose. It's actually pretty fun to watch a Jackal try to avoid all of the Frags being throw at it. The Marines will begin working their way up toward the Ghosts. Eventually, the Brute Captain will hop in one and try to get out. The Marines will continue their grenade frenzy, sending the Ghost tumbling about the room until the Brute either dies or is forced to get out. During this time you can move the Warthog up toward the area to assist in killing the Brute.

Once he's dead, collect what you want for the next area and get going.
